Does the type of module or meta level of a module that you have offline for use as a heatsink matter or is the effect the same regardless of the item used?
For example say I'm overheating my guns, would an offline smartbomb be better than a salvager?

I thought the module slot had to be empty for the heat sink effect. How ever if it does work with offline modules, then i dont see how the type or meta level would effect it

No info in player guide or knowledge base. Dev blogs don't seem to go into detail. You'll probably have to test this one yourself.

when I heat up, I've noticed the modules next to the heated module, and the modules next to them takes damage too.
example:
mwd - shield extender - shield extender - scram
I heat the MWD, it takes damage. the next shield extender takes some damage, but less then the mwd, the last extender also takes some damage, but not much. the scram is unharmed. I get the feeling the extender takes 2/3 of the mwd and the next extender takes 1/3 of the mwd. But I have no numbers to back it up with. Is this the heatsink effect? |

As far as I know, it does have an effect on which module you use as a heat sink. It depends on the module's HP and the heat damage it takes per cycle.

I'm going on what oveur said at fanfest, he said that when you place an offline module next to a module you want to overheat it will take a lot of the heat away from that module and allow you to overheat for longer.
Beyond that as far as I know nothing has been said since, it's about bloody time they started releasing some proper info on stuff they add to the game.

All modules have the SAME number of overheat HPs. They do however overheat at different rates which is indicated in the description. ------------------------------------------------- **** You're out of your mind!
