I'll be leaving soon to start CDL training, and after that I'll be on the road like 27 days of the month. I had been thinking of getting a real good notebook and like verizon wireless or something like it to play while I'm on the road. Anybody else do this? What kind of performance can I expect out of this wifi crap? ---------------------------------------

My buddy Zhao does trucking but he's local. Still sucks for him though. Up around 4am and gets home around 9pm and doesn't get any time with his kids for 5 days.
From my experience with Wifi you need a place that supports it although I'm sure most truck stops do. The few times I've used mine I've never noticed too much of a difference but then again I wasn't trying to run a mmo.
Sucks for zhao again cause even if he had a wi-fi notebook I'm sure that the dairy factory he has a 3 hour layover at doesn't support wi-fi. Hardly have had a chance to talk to him in the last few weeks.

I saw a truck explode on the exit to the interstate. Driver like totally ejected a few minutes before it happened. The insurance payout was probably pretty good.
True story.

My former corp mate did this. I was not in that corp too long, but it seemd like ti went well for him. I can not give more details unfortunatly.

Only when I'm forced too. After fighting the idiots on the road all week, I just want to blow stuff up.

10 years ago, when I quit driving, most truck stops had cable hookups for internet (broadband). Whether they've gone wifi since then, I have no idea. I had to pay 20 bucks a month for access. Wifi might be the same way. |

That sounds a little like what happened to my 1978 F-150. My truck did not quite explode it just burst into flames. I guess I did not find all the leaks in my gas line . I should of just gone ahead and replaced it. The insurance payout was close to $3500 .
And yes Mike D., contrary to popular belief F-150's, especially the older ones, are quite good at being trucks. You just need to be quite handy with the tools .

P.S. That sweet little truck, AKA the Tank served me well many times |

my truck in the foreground 16cm3 tank, 60 series detroit, if you care about that stuff.
and i camp in the shacks in the background, about 50 miles off the alaska highway in northeast British Columbia. im posting this using a sierra wireless 580 aircard without any external antenna or booster. in the US youll get good coverage everywhere. i havent seen very high bandwidth but it works.
you can boost these up to 3 watts with external boosters and get 50 miles range if needed, the rig itself has a repeater on it so i dont need any extra signal boosters. its not wifi either, thats not the same as evdo.
double clutch is for noobs
