Ok, this might be a bit of a whine, but...what is the best way to get angel copper tags? I'm desperately trying to raise my standings (my corps requires 0.5 standings for FW), and after I did the "Graduation Certificate" mission I accepted the "Keeping Crime in Check" mission, assuming it would be easy.
Well, it ain't. The goal of it, of course, is to return with 10 Angel Copper tags. So I go around shooting every Angel I can find...and none of them drop tags. So, now I'm up against the mission deadline, and I haven't a single one. And I think my standings will take a hit when I fail in this.
I did look into buying the tags, but boy, they're expensive for a n00b like me. Typically around 1.5 mil at least.
So...is there some trick, or ideal location, to go to get Angels who drop copper tags?
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Kirala

I don't think so. As a general rule, harder missions will have more chance of a tag dropping. I have the most luck with L3 Angel Extravaganza mission, that often provides one copper tag. What would be a smart thing to do is to put up buy orders for angel copper tags in various regions and hope a player just hits the sell button with his loot. -------------------------------------------------- If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles - Sun Tzu |

IIRC copper tags are of the lowest rank. The best way to get them should be killing rats in 0.5 belts. Belt rats got a higher drop chance of anything, including tags. --
There are countless games in the world. There are at least as many ppl that dont like one or more rules of said games. That never stopped smart game designers from creating good games.

Update on the Angel Copper Tag storyline. The tags are still hard to find. I ratted in .5 and .4 systems regularly and had a lot of difficulty getting the number of tags required. The mission offers a very nice standings bump as you would expect, 1.1% for Faction and 3.1% for NPC Corporation. If you are set on running this mission here is some advice -
1. Make sure you have all the needed tags BEFORE accepting the mission. (You need 10 Angel Copper Tags for the level 1 agent at the Data Center in Metropolis.) Assuming you will be flying in hisec space (after all it's a lvl 1 agent) it will take you more time to gather these tags at the current drop rate than you have to complete the mission - even if you could somehow rat the entire time available. Buying them is an option. The going rate is steep - as of 20 July '08 the going rate was 2M ISK / per. This is really ridiculous when the prices for the other supposedly rarer tags - gold and silver - don't come anywhere near the copper tag price. The interesting twist is if you rat a lot trying to get the Copper Tags you'll generate the isk needed to buy them - not that I'm condoning the exorbitant price.
2. The hisec location that seems to have the highest Angel tag drops is the Metropolis COSMOS constellation (Nakugard, Tvink, etc.). During my ratting in this constellation's asteroid belts I received 18 Angel Brass Tags, 2 Angel Copper Tags, 1 Domination Silver Tag, and 1 Domination Copper Tag (the last cannot be used to satisfy the storyline requirement). Total time ratting was probably on the order of 15 hours non-consecutive. (There are some very interesting loot drops by rats in this constellation.)

Wouldn't it make more sense to rat in the COSMOS plexes instead ? The spawn rate is pretty heavy... but I'm not sure if they drop the right kind of tags.

Ratting for them will take ages. You're far better off spending your time running missions for ISK and then buying them.

The Ani constellation is indeed a good spot for hunting for tags -mind you, the Angel Brass far outnumber the Coppers in my experience. I don't go looking for the Coppers, as I had spectacularly blew the agent requirements for them a couple of weeks ago, but they're there if you're prepared to spend a long time trying to nab them. Found a single one yesterday (among the many Brass drops and other peculiar items) which sold for 500 thousand only. Anyone wanting to complete the mission is advised to heed the advice proffered here already -buy 'em, if you can afford to.

Each tag agent can be used once. Ever. However, there are three Data Centers for each empire faction. All three have the L1 agents that take 10 copper tags, but one will have several more agents, requiring progressively higher standings, and requiring 20 tags of different grades (all Minmatar agents will want Angel tags, though). --------------------------------------------------
