I would simply like to know how people counter nano ships. What are some of the tactics you use, be it another nano ship, or an anti nano fleet, or whatever. I don't have pvp experience but I am going to move into 0 spacevsoon andvwouldvlike to know someways of countering a nano. Also please dont flame/troll ifyou cant add anything constructiveto the topic then just dont post.

1) fly yourself a nanoship and when they will kill you remember how they did it and you just learned a new tactics.
2) what about looking in all the others thousand threads about nanos they are plenty of counters.

You can fight nano with nano. Or you could find out by fighting them if they come in close(ish) which I doubt or stay at sniping ranges.
I think most cases are a mix. Some ships stay away and snipe while others come a bit closer to temp people into following them, separate the group, etc.
Effective against them is the use of EW, drones, tracking enhancers, target painters in general and the use of specific ships that have bonus for web, neutralizers, etc.
You can also help your gang by having some dedicated tacklers in fast interceptors with webs. These are to be considered suiciders. But they have a good impact. Costs for the mare cheap compared to costs of nanos and if you manage to kill 1-2 nanos the isk pain is there.
Also boost your gang by using battlecruisers or cs with specific links.
I can not give you any exact tuff because I do not know who you fight, who you fly with, what you fly, etc.

2. Killing their capacitor, with heavy energy neutralizers on battleships or with the Curse (where the ship bonuses effectively turn medium energy neutralizers into heavy neutralizers).
3. Jamming, to prevent them from doing damage and tackling. All the specialized ECM ships go here.
4. Dampening. Same as the jamming. They like to keep range, to avoid being webbed. Dampening can make them unable to fight or force them closer.
5. Shooting back. Turret based cruisers and battlecruisers that fit a few tracking mods and a target painter (or you can have a target painting ship in the gang) can track a lot of fast cruiser-sized ships orbiting at 20 something range and hit with good damage. Similarly for battleship pulse lasers (again if you fit for tracking).
Frigate-size guns, especially on the destroyers with their huge tracking bonus, have absolutely no problem against fast cruisers. In the case of the destroyers, even the faster interceptors (10+ km/s) will go boom.
If you're a missile user, use assault launchers and light precision mssiles. With rigs to increase explosion velocity, things going up to 8 km/s should take good amounts of damage from them.
6. Remote repairing with battleships and logistics ships. Goes in the same vein as the jamming in defending against their damage and also in keeping important ships that can counter them, like say Minmatar recons, alive.
7. Kill the drones. Not just the Ishtar's, but a lot of ships have at least some drones on them. With a big gang, that's a lot of drones. Hence, smartbombs. --------------------------

Nanoing a ship means you are short on tank, usually with just a low resist shield buffer tank, and certain things can hit you no matter how fast you are going. Those things being EW.
Use dampeners, ECM, and your own logistic network with gangmates. Nanoed ships, while in groups, can put out a fair bit of DPS but nothing compared to what they could if not nanoed, and using logistic ships and logistic BS's should give your fleet an extra edge. Use Remote tracking links too, the minmatar logistic ships are under-utilized, and you can use one to easily make a Harbinger or Ferox ruin the Nano-fleet's day.
And try fitting a Heavy Neut to a curse. It is difficult to do (requires all lows and rigs dedicated to powergrid), but with a faction Heavy Neut the curse and Neutralize all of a MWD equiped cruiser's cap in one shot. No cap = dead nano ship.

My favorite and least intensive idea I've heard so far is arranging your ships 7km from the next in a formation, so you sorta get a line or box formation. The essential point is to make sure that a nano can't orbit any one of your ships without getting within neutralizer or *better yet* web range of other ships in the gang. Nice thing about this one is that with varied ships, you can do it all with tech I ships and equipment. (though a huginn is always nice)

Thanks for all of the helpful info. I'm sure I have plenty of options on how to beat nanoed ships now.

ECM + webbing interceptors = win Damps to bring them into web range Medium guns (track nanos just fine, especially beam lasers) Your own nanos neuts scads of warrior IIs a competent FC minmatar recons the Hyena precision light missiles (assault launchers FTW) overloaded webs on moderately fast ships bait
The more of the above tactics you combine, the better off you'll be. - Support fixing the UI|Suggest Jita fixes|Compact logs |

This
We used to armor tank our huginns. works nicely if you have remote logistics in your gangs.
Typhoons are good too especially after torpedo changes. Fit some Torpedoes and Heavy neutralizers and sit in a belt pretending too rat...
