For last several weeks I mostly fly the Dominix and use Ogre drones very often. I noticed that since about 3 days ago, can't say for sure, 2 of the 5 Ogres often get stuck on each other.
I know we had this problem last year, then somehow it went away. But now it is back.
Does anyone else notice this? Has CCP done anything that can mess up drone collision detection?

Edited by: Conq Er on 28/06/2008 03:44:19 Confirmed. I issue "Return to Drone Bay" command on one of the stuck ones then immediately give "Engage Target" command. That resolves the problem. But it is very annoying, especially when it occurs in the middle of a cruiser rush in a plex where you need them down asap.

Can any CCP or official bug hunter confirm or deny the existence of this problem?
I am encountering it on hourly basis now. Dominix + Ogre II

Yes there is a problem with drones at the moment, it's not just heavy drones though, I often get a problem with my last drone returning to the drone bay and it just orbits my ship for about a minute after the re-call, I wouldnt mind but the drone remains attackable. Drones since as long as i've been playing (nearly 5 years) have had issues, I think it's just a case of you have to suffer the problems because I doubt they will ever work %100.

Have you filed a bug report?
There is a sticky thread in this very forum with instructions on how to file a good bug report, there is no way for us to comment on an issue that consists entirely of: Dominix + Ogre II
We need more information than that.

I'm sure the problem is occouring with all ships and drones. If you have more than 2 drones moving the same speed it's bound to get stuck sooner or later. I don't remember having this problem last year but then again last year I wasn't in an Astarte or using Hammerhead II's.

Here's what you do:
get a dominix, get Ogre IIs, go to 0.0 system, start killing NPCs at a belt. Use only the drones. Spend 1 hour doing so and pay close attention to what happens when you try to recall all your drones and move to next belt. When all the NPCs are dead and you are waiting for drones to return, that's the biggest chance of seeing 2 drones stuck on each other, they still move toward you but their speed drops to about 1/5
It doesn't happen all the time, so you should spend at least 1 hour ratting to properly judge the frequency of the problem.
However, I think the best thing to do is to look at the actual code that governs drone movement and collision handling. See if the code allows the possibility of 2 drones getting stuck. If necessary, add special case for drone behavior when stuck.

I am seeing this as well, with all flavors of drones. The last drone (or two sometimes) say 'returning to base' and then just orbit your ship forever. During this time they are attackable.

Since the last patch I'm not experiencing this issue.
