Got myself a Celestis for my 1st cruiser and I wanna run this setup by ya.
In the low slots I have two Reactor Unit I, one Power Diagnostics I, and a Warp Core Stabilizer I.
Med slots are Med Shield Booster I, 10mw AB, and Warp Disruptor
High slots are 2 250 rails, 2 standard launchers with defenders and heavies and one med proton smartbomb.
Any suggestions or ideas?

Edited by: Lt Red on 17/05/2004 16:44:48 I would replace the power diag with 200/400mm plates, get the torps skill and load the second miss L with Torps, and upgrade to a MWD, but thats just me. You may need Sensor Upgrades IV to use Co-Proc II's first tho.

I too have a Celestis (but I must admit that was after I got a Thorax) and I find that it is an underestimated ship . Here is the setup that I am currently using: High 1 250 2 dual 150's and 2 Heavy Missile Launchers (switched to 2 Malkuth Heavy's after I "acquired" them from some Gurista's last night :). Med 1 Med shield booster I 1 Cap Recharger 1 and 1 10mn AB Low 1 Magnetic Stabilizer I 1 Basic Tracking Enhancer 2 Power Diagnostic I This setup worked pretty well last night although I may take the AB off and add a thermal shield hardner.

Edited by: Kathira on 17/05/2004 17:04:37 Fitting is a skill question all the time.
But you should fit your ship not as a multiproposal ....
Warp disruptur is ok if youre a pirat or feel so strong that you wanna fight the PK Warp core stab ( you need 2 ) is ok if you fighting in low secure and try to be the runner and survivor
Defenders or Smartbombs ... not really both of them.
Better you try to fit 3 Rails and 2 launcher.
Med Shield booster / AB or MWD / maybe a shield hardener or a cap Battery
And when you wanna take warp core stabs 2 WCS 2 PD/RCU
Power would be your problem in the beginning so 250th are hard to fit ecxept you change the WCS to RCU or PD
And last but not least 2 ogre and 3 Hammerhead // when you do not have drone 5 then drone bay full of Hammerheads. And launch them when the mob is near. I would not have lost mine when I launched them earlier in the fight against schmidt.

Edited by: Cadman Weyland on 17/05/2004 17:56:16 Im using a similar set up. But 1 heavy launcher and 1 standard. Im also playing about between 2x 250 rails and a twin 150, or 2 x twin 150s and a single 250. Depends if i fot a mwd or not. Jigging the ammo lets all the guns fire at same optimal range..though im not fully convinced by the twin 150s yet.

Hmmm I like the ideas. I'm considering switching to blasters but I haven't had much exp using them? Are they mostly for up close and personal fighting?

Stick with rails, because with the new missile changes, missiles are going to become far more useful at longer ranges, and that's 40% of the Celestis' weapons. Not to mention that I don't think it has enough turret slots to be an effective close-range ship.

the way i use to play my celestis and very successfully even if i do say so myself - was to load in 3x the best ion blasters you can find and 2 launchers with torps/cruise. fix it for as much speed as possible and charge in guns blazing.
at your optimal ranges you can hit seriously hard and with torps firing also you do ALOT of dmg and will find your self inside the range of most ships long range guns.
however this probably wont work now as ive not flown this ship for about 4 months

I think I'll take off the smartbomb since I plan on keeping my distance. But since I have two 250s on there, should I add a dual 150 just in case they get close?

Edited by: Gail on 17/05/2004 21:38:48 I would change that WD for best shield extender you can fit. Also, if you have enough grid, would add couple of Power Capasitor Relay I's instead of Power Diagnostic Units. You can test it yourself, but even with nerf they are better than PDU. Also train up engineering and other skill to help increase grid/reduce requirements.
Also standard 150mm Railgun I is a better choice than Dual 150mm, you get some spare grid that that way to perhaps fit in something more useful.
This of course all depends on what you planning to do. -------------------------------------

Try this setup:
Hi: 3 x 250mm Railgun 2 x Heavy Launcher
Med: 1 x Medium Shield Booster 2 x Shield Harderner (depending on which NPC you fight)
Low: 2 x Reactor Control Unit 1 x Cap Relay 1 x Magnetic Field stabilizer
In your drone bay, carry 8 Hammerhead. Im not exactly sure if you can fit all of those module with this Low slot setup, you might have to remove the damage mod and replace it by a Co-processor or another Reactor Control unit.

With my celestis i tend to use:
HI: 1x Small named smartbomb 2x 250mm 'Scouts' 2x Heavy Launchers
Mid: Med C5-L Med S59 Extender (cant remember the proper name >:() 10mn MWD
Low: 1x power diag 1x reactor control 2x cap relays
^^ I use this setup for doing lvl3 agent missions (or i did until i got my battleship) and i havent had any problems doing missions vs 1x 85k 4x35k rats etc with it..
I could think of better setups, but this works so i feel no need to change it :) 2004.08.22 21:03:00 combat Your Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I perfectly strikes callonious [BSC], wrecking for 236.9 damage. |

C5-L is a named shield booster (best there is) or if your skills and bank balance are high enough, you could try a medium shield booster II. 2004.08.22 21:03:00 combat Your Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I perfectly strikes callonious [BSC], wrecking for 236.9 damage. |

I see a lot of combat suggestions for the Celestis, but not alot about what it's "supposed" to be -- an EW cruiser. Anyone have any good suggestions for this? ___winterblink/warp_drive_active/eve_nature_vraie// |

With only 3 mid slots, the Celestis, like any cruiser that *isn't* a Blackbird, is currently not really suited to most EW tasks unless used in packs. The currently proposed changes to EW will I think make more of a difference here, but due to it's disgusting number of mid slots the Blackbird will in my opinion remain the popular tool for the job.
Oddly, with the way EW currently works, Electronic Warfare is the one job the Celestis *can't* do - it's high cargo, great drone bay and mix of turrets and launchers make it a highly versatile and capable ship in every other respect.
I won't post my current Celestis setup, because it just got roasted by a couple of high end rats, and didn't really work so well :)
