Hello there... well i am a fresh new-comer to the Eve world.. i have 30 days played so far... and i dont understand one thing
Is this game stupid?
I don't understand how allot of things here work they make no sense what so ever
I have allot of questions that i want to say butt i will retain myself for respect for this game butt i have 1 thing that i must know
Jet can Mining
I don't understand how it works and nobody helps me... i mine i put hundreds, thousands of ore with a Retriever and a guy in a Merlin comes up puts 1 rocket in and then I CANT ADD ANYMORE? it says not my can.. what is that? how? and if i take it back i have Aggression 15min? thats stupid i cant fight a guy in a Fighter from a Mining Barge,,,, Please help me understand the mechanics behind it
How can it be possible for someone to steal a entire can in 1 sec putting 1 random item inside just like that and i cant do anything? it doesn't have sense
It happened to me allot of times i lost allot of ores like this.. i even lost my ship once when a guy did the same i tried to take my ore butt he then jammed me and killed my ship...
Please help |

he didnt put jack in your can, he made his own can and stole your ore, he is trying to get you to steal it back so he can bend you over and use you for his own amusement |

If you jettison something, you're throwing it away. You can pick it up later, but so can someone else.
Either make sure noone gets near your jettisoned stuff or use a Giant Secure Container which, when anchored and passworded, are perfectly safe.

Try to stay away from busy systems when mining. it also helps not to mine alone and take the time to find a corp that will help support you and mine along side you. having a hauler on duty will drastically limit your risk of losing ore to thieves.
You also have to remember that those going out of their way to cause these problems aren't really breaking game rules. It might not be nice. But its allowed. Try having friends nearby in pvp ships in a fleet with you to spring a trap on the unwitting thief maybe. The options are there. Try using them.

I don't get the troll thing.. and yes jamming is easy you pres a button and they guy wont move... it says you are being jammed in window when you warp..
Second.. if i put a secured container? how? i cant use one my ship only has 2k space the biggest.. how do i move it? that thing has 3k |

How do you move stuff from your 27k m3 jetcan?
If you can only move 2k at the time there's not much point in using any container. (There are smaller sized secure containers too btw.) |

Well i have a very bad computer and warping to roid mine then back is so time consuming doesn't make sense i better mine for abit with no frames or lag i make 20k in then i make 1 return trip equip 2 Cargo Expander I and i make the rest.. thats what i thought butt i lost my ship on the first day i invested all my money into it.. Strip Miner I and Mining Laser Upgrade + a CPU II i am in a stupid BANTAM i cant believe there are people out there that doest this just to hurt others i think he didn't even took the Ore |

Train the skill 'anchoring' to level 1. Train whatever races frigate you use to 3 if its not already there and purchase your races industrial ship skill. Buy an industrial hauler ship and a secure can. Put the secure can in the haulers cargo hold and then warp to the location in the belt you want to mine in and jetteson the can from your ship. Right click the can and select 'anchor' then wait the 60 seconds for it to lock down. Right click the can again and set the password then bookmark it. Now go get your miner and warp to the bookmark and enjoy pirate free mining. 
edit. i should add that my responce is more for people looking into this thread and really not knowing what to do. |

Welcome to Eve. People are free to do what they want in this game, including the freedom to be evil. Assume that everyone is hostile, or at least indifferent to your welfare, until proven otherwise.
I strongly advise reading the crime and punishment forum to get a general idea of the ways in which you can be tricked, scammed, robbed and ganked even in hi-sec.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

If you can use a Retriever and still don't know the basics of jet-can mining, you should stop playing EVE.
Oh, and about your stuff...

howdy, im technically a year old but i have only played a month or 2 ... the game is hard to get into if you do not have the time to read and research.
can mining is usually a bad idea if you are by yourself. actually... doing most anything in this game by yourself is a bad idea. also... resist the urge to shoot that cruiser w/ your destroyer no matter how ****ed off you get when you see him making a bee line for your can and you know you cant get to it in time. >.<  i got schooled by concord but i learned!
edit: hahah i read the thing above about anchoring and wrote that down for when i get off work... jeez.

Also, why the heck can't we have even bigger secure cans? The biggest secure can holds a puny 3,900m3. There's almost no use to using it if you're solo. But if you have a team mining op going on, then you could just use the ones you construct for free that hold nearly 30,000m3.
There's nearly no point in using secure cans for mining if you have a hauler. Personally I find it easier to find a mission with Plagioclase that's in Deadspace and jetcan mine into the 30,000m3 can, then grab my hauler to take the whole can.

Official CCP line is they never intended for Jet Can mining to happen in the first place. It's simply a game mechanic miners took advantage of. So be happy you can do it at all.
Get yourself a Hulk, stick cargo extending rigs on it, and mine away.
