Ok I am curious now: Can one contact eve university and ask them for the recruits they train? I mean when Eve uni trains a recruit does he go on to anotehr corp and leave the alliance? Just curious. |

You think Eve-Uni members are slaves or up for auction or something?
Are you that dense? |

Or maybe he sees the potential for a quality result the training people get from it? If they're doing something right, their recruits would be up for demand, which only means that EVE Uni is doing something right.

Last I saw there was a section of the Eve Uni -IVY- forums dedicated to posts from different corps to generate interest from students when they are ready to move on.
I'd recommend talking to an IVY officer first to get more information in game.

Edited by: Umbra Dawn on 29/06/2008 05:13:54 Edited by: Umbra Dawn on 29/06/2008 05:13:29 I saw Eve Uni when looking through the corps and noticed their tax rate is 100% (at least I'm pretty sure this is what I saw). I'm fairly new to the game so I'm just wondering about this, because everyone told me it's a terrible rate. I'm not seeing how it'd help newbies so anyone care to explain? |

Listen bucko. You obviously don't know how this works. Eve-Uni got 100% tax rates. There is an elite of older members. And the peasants of newer members. How you think the elite get money?! They spend all their time training noobs and fighting pirates! Simple...the SELL the new players to bigger alliances! Kinda commonsense. Why are you getting so sore about this? You one of their ex-slaves too?!

The tax is usually 2.5%. During wars (like now) it gets raised to 100%. It is not about the money however, the tax raising has a different purpose. |

That's true enough.
Anyone wanting small gang combat won't be fighting an empire war against IVY. If they want that, they should maybe choose a corp with a majority of players above 2 mil SP.

I hear that the elites of Ivy beat their new recruits if they don't fight well enough in battle. I think someone needs to war dec ivy to free the noob peasants they are holding for ransom. @ ACA: There is a section of our public forums (Work Fair) designed to allow corporations friendly to Eve University (that is with + standings) to post recruiting messages. Any of our diplomats can arrange standings & provide info about this process.
@ Umbra Dawn: Our tax rate is normally 2.5%. We raise it during war time to encourage pilots who want to continue to run missions & not fly combat to take a vacation in an NPC corp. Students who choose this option are re-admitted when the war ends, with no loss of rank, rights or privileges. Those that choose to stay are provided free frigates, free cruisers, free fittings & access to jump clones so that they can fly combat without significant isk consequences.
@ D4F : Our fleet tactics, war fighting doctrine and the reasons for them have been discussed in many venues in the past. Suffice it to say that what you have seen, you will continue to see.
@ My Favorite Polecat: I've seen nothing official from CCP about an exploit; we have plenty of isk; if Kelduum took a vacation, I never got a souvenir T-shirt and Uni has never minded week long wars.

Dee Carson Director of Operations

Edited by: Cobra Ball on 29/06/2008 15:49:32 I am an ex uni pilot. Its a great corp and it really helps new pilots get their "feet wet" in the huge Eve universe. Combat, mining, missioning, fleet ops, its all there for them to learn about and experince.
When war rolls around, most newbie pilots are blood thirsty animals just chomping at the bit to get into the sh1t.
After they get some experience and a couple more million SP, most pilots move on to other corps that specialize in specific activities such as PVP or industry.
Anybody that starts out should atleast give them a try.
Good luck UNI! |
