I've been reading some posts.. and i think something should be done in EvE to remember past pilots that have passed away the Real Life. Maybe have stars named after them.. or solar systems..
I think this would mean alot to these peoples familys, showing them respect.
I don't know how fakes would be weeded out, but i'd hope people wouldnt abuse this, as its a nice way to remember them. ---------------------------

a solar system might be too much, but having a graveyard system would be a nice feature. Perhaps naming the moons after deceased players.
The system should have no astroid belts or stations though.

I think not before CPP re-consider the naming policies (if any). I see to much d0d3z sp3Ak in EVE a moon or solar system named after these players would not be appropriate IMHO. But I agree with both of you.

it's tough to say ney to this idea without coming off as an insensitive jerk who can't identify with those who've lost a loved one...
but i really have to say this idea is way too weird and a bit creepy. people don't like being reminded of death in any way, not real death. believe me, i know. i used to (attempt to) sell pre-need funeral and cemetary arrangements, and although taking care of everything beforehand so that your loved ones won't have to run to the bank and deal with a loan clerk and the funeral director while in mourning due to your passing is a very, very smart idea, not to mention compassionate and loving to one's family, the vast majority of people just didn't want to talk about it.
this is a game, where people are supposed to have fun. i'd have to say creating a whole solar system of reminders of death and gloom would be counter to the game's goals.
just my opinion, though. i could be wrong.

( The memory of the deads deserves something better than a virtual grave in an internet game. )

Edited by: Detron on 18/05/2004 15:20:21 Even though the dead we are talking about were once players like you and me. It is a way to remember them as players since we have no other way like a real life contact for example.
I've been in other online games where NPCs are named after players who have passed.

Right on m8.
I really don't like the idea of this game turning into a memorial for the dead, thats just too weird. And besides unless family members play this game odds are they will never know.
Don't mind me I'm just making suasages! |

once we have player owned structures, then people can name them what they want. until then, you can rename plenty of things in EVE already...
not trying to be a jerk. it just happens naturally...
