Edited by: Haratu on 18/05/2004 00:13:44 Very cunning of CCP to make Jovian parts valuable like that here is why:
only the richest people will be able to collect 1000 body parts (unless someone already did so) and so this will cause a massive shift in wealth from the rich to the poor. CCP is simply distributing the wealth around... good work!
PS: I have a body part to sell to any amarrian buyers. If you are not amarrian i will triple the price. (convo me ingame)
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

I can see 2 options:
1. Mid-range people get their 5 million from selling 2 parts, while others, in large alliances, get some uber Jove equipment that later sells for billions.
2. The reward is horrible, making everyone whine and...stuff. --------------

Yeah but what happens if an already wealthy Corporation has purchased the required 1000 parts? Thats not what I call distrubution at all, more like concentration of wealth.
.... and the game gets further and futher out of reach for the little guy.

Grand scale story events, where new or even intermediate player/corporation can have the slightest chance to ever afford to or have the resources to make a difference/participate, other then handing out theyr parts to some fat rich corporation or player with a piece of Jovian Tech lighting up in his eyes like a dollar sign, is a disgusting way of treating the player base.

You guys have missed the point entirely...
the little guys now have a way to make mega bucks... the only way people can get these megabucks to buy the parts will be middle men, they will then sell to large corporations. large corps will get the jovian recognition, but the little guys will get the money...
See?

i think they should start having the parts appear in pirate loot and floating cans and randomly in your hangars and the such, they said the stuff is going everywhere, why wouldnt it be there?

No, they've very carefully nerfed this story line for the little corps, its not about the money, if the little corps wanted their money they would've sold the parts already, but I know my corp and I have been holding onto our body parts because we actually WANTED to be a part of the story, not just the person who supplied a single prop for lots of money.
Simply put, I'm upset, I wanted to be a part of the story, but now what its done is gone ahead and catered for the alliances who have enough members and money to get the thousand parts.
And if you say its a shift in economy, then you are also missing the point, whats the reward going to be? More than likely something that will push the alliances further ahead in the game. Nerfing the little corp.
The way its going, it makes it look like they want everyone to join either CA or Stain or CFS in order to part of the game, and thats just wrong. --------------------------------------------- I'm the root of all thats evil yeah, but you can call me Cooki3
Some people couldn't get a clue, if they were in the middle of a clue field, in the middle of clue mating season, doused in clue pheromones, in a clue suit, shouting "Clooo! Clooo!" whilst beating themselves with a clue stick |

You people are pathetic. Who gives a flying pigs behind whether you make money out of the jovian parts or not. So what if alliances get more money, they are the ones losing countless ships everyday defending those areas of space.
Damn I can't believe the sheer amount of whiners attached to this game. 'I dont want the changes, I want more jovian parts, I dont have an 'ub3r 1337 battleships with m3g4 ray gun' I dont want to be shot by pirates....' etc.
Grow up a little and cope with it.

I've got an idea . . .
Why don't they make the empires buy each part back individually and in exchange, hand over an apocalypse with eight Miner V lasers. Then we can all hold hands happily in Yulai, singing Kum Ba Ya as we activate our new lasers together.
This would in turn cause the servers to crash and catch fire, destroying the game which is what it would deserve if the Devs ever listen to you whining complainers.
You ARE part of the story. You can go out and collect the 1,000 jovian parts or you can sell yours and make some fast cash. Yes, collecting 1,000 parts will take large-scale teamwork - but ultimately that is what the game is about!
Solo players and small corps will never repeat never be able to compete on the same scale as a mega corp or an alliance. That is the sacrifice from operating on a small scale, and that is the price you pay. Like it or leave it.

well, I actually like the approach BIG is taking... should've waited before I traded my blood drop for an apoc BPC after the news got out and I realised that my small won't stand a chance to gather 1000 of the parts at all. 10 maybe, but 1000 is impossible for a 5ppl corp.

Some of you need to take a chill pill. You can't expect everything in this game to cater to everyone. Unless the empire is paying big cash for the parts I am keeping mine for the oddity value.

lol we like that idea.
I have said this many times before, this game is very much like real life, some you win, some you lose. Solo and small corps can't compete with the Mega corps and alliances, but they can grow, and join alliances if that's what is important to them, It's their choice.
I don't give up real life cos "it's not fair" remember there are noobs starting every day and each one of them is behind you in the race!
