anyone in layman terms want to explain the mechanics of this, I've been a bad boy and no matter how many NPC's I explode I don't seem able to redeem my self...
Example: Complex running (6/10 so pleanty of lovely BS to explode) total sec increase after 3 hours in there 0.03
so if someone could explain where Im going wrong and give me some idea of a quicker way of getting back in to concord's good books I'd appreciate it.
Cheers Harc

I could be wrong on this so please correct me if I am.
I don't believe it is the types of ship you destroy or the value of thier bounties, but simply the number you kill. So 5 rat frigates will give you the same as 5 rat BS, only the frigates will pop faster.
Also I have noticed some agent missions give good security standing. I just don't remember from what agent or if it was storyline or not.

First, you should ask to Crime & Punishment people to know for sure. Some of them must be used to grind back sec status :)
AFAIK, only the higher bounty rat killed in 15 minutes counts toward your security status increase. But this is an unverified information, i fear.
Hopes that helps a little,
Grokouik.

Nope, nope and nope.
What you kill matters. Battleships give far more sec status increase than frigates. The largest ship you kill within 15 minutes (approx.) gives you a sec status increase. You can kill a BS in one system and then in another system right away to ignore this 1 ship / 15 minutes standing increase.
Missions themselves do not give security standing increases, although killing mission ships does.

0.0 NPC BS's will do it the fastest and from my experience they have to be from any of the 4 pirate factions(Serpentis, Guristas, Angels, Sansha). You do get sec status increases from smaller stuff, but it will be tiny. Look in you character sheet on the Security Status tab, and it should show you the increased amounts. I've found it takes about 15 minutes or so for the numbers to propagate from the server to your client.
I reduced my sec status from -5.42 to -4.93 in about 3.5 hours last night and made ok isk doing it.
I have brought my sec status down from -9.9 to -1.6ish twice now and the fastest way to do this is to kill a BS, jump system; kill a BS, jump system; rinse and repeat for as long as you can stand it. It takes me about a week to a week and a half doing this for approximately 3 hours a night.
Good luck.

Thanks guys!

You get a standing increase every 15 minutes that is related to the highest bounty kill you get in that timeframe.
What might have happened is you killed four ships in 15 minutes, hence you'd get four bounties but you'd only be credited with one standing increase.
You may wish to check out COSMOS missions, normal missions and 0.0 rats as ways to increase your standings.
I'm not 100% certain but faction/officer rats would give the largest gains because of their larger bounties.

So sec status gains from rats is linked to their bounties? So a 500K battleship would give more than a 375K battleship?
Could you do a database query regarding this info, or is it a different department?

Having said that, there's this theory that states that the sec increase per 15 minutes counts for a kill per system. So if you kill 2 BS's in 2 different systems in the same 15 minutes you get twice the gain.
Please confirm or deny.

I petitioned this last night, according the the GM I spoke to Cosmos may spawn certain NPC's that do not give sec standing increase... So I wasted 3 hours killing BS NPC's one of which was a nice 5 million Crimsion Lord and got no thanks from concord. This makes me a sad Panda, spent 1 hour in the belts last night and made .3 standing increase.
I would like to see CCP state what NPC's with bounties give sec and those that dont since I was under the impression that a bounty npc gave isk and sec and since Im only after sec spending 3 hours chasing isk is pretty pointless to me.
EDIT: According to the skill descritpion Fast Talk increases sec gain by 5% (guessing per level but then that might not be true!) I certainly hope this skill does as it says on the tin just spent 3 days training it to level 4.

It increase the gain by 5%, meaning that 1% gain becomes a 1.05% gain. It helps, but it performs no miracles.

The recommended way to repair sec loss is to kill belt rats in the lowest sec rating you can access (higher bounties). Still it is a slow process due to the 15 minute thing. Good luck getting rid of your flashy redness :) |

0.3 raw standing increase in 1 hour sounds like quite a lot to me - that's presumably four increases of 0.75% each, which is very high for a single ship.

it is indeed a increase of 1.8 ish per update, however I was changing systems so got more than the normal updates (which btw seems to be 30 mins not 20 mins looking at the sec log in character sheet). I was lucky to find some cosmos with belt rats in at some nice bounties. Blood Raiders like to explode for me thankfully so I can grind them very quickly in my Absolution.
This post was more aimed at the fact that on Monday night I spent 3 hours killing in a 6/10 cosmic and got sod all in the way of standing. I'd of been better in the belts/cosmics that have belt npc's if I'd known that I wasn't getting anything but isk.
