I notice alot of the posts on here are complaints about unbalenced ships etc (I wont get into the recons again) So i just wanted to post something a bit different. a homage to the humble blackbird
This is a fine example of a ship that CCP has gotten right.
Its a great ship, flown well it can be awsome. yet its weaknesses are all so clear :P Its a ship that can add a bit spice to a gang of any size, and a fairly new player can fly 1 and have a useful role
you can even take it out solo and use it to bait bold ceptors who think they have caught a weak and lonely blackbird.
What a great ship. well done ccp.

How do you have a most balanced ship? Thats like asking for caldari ships with high DPS, gallante ships with long range, ammar ships with low-cap draining weapons, and mimnatar ships that don't look like crap. My vote: Arbitrator

I haven't flown many races ships but i have to say the vexor is a great all rounder for any newer players that like a cheap drone cruiser. Good bonuses, slots and the guns can be cut back on to only a few to use in getting aggro before setting drones off. Even a miner can do well with it if your not able to use a barge if you have good drone skills. Plus its affordable for all the versatility you get.

Probably the pod or the shuttle. Noobships are slightly imba because gallente get a drone. Any other ship there will likely be a favorite for any given engagement.

balanced vs what?
I'd say the Tier 2 BCs are the most balanced class of ship in a 1v1 scenario, in that they do fairly equally against each other and all have their own strengths + weaknesses. ...

Maybe if you flip a raven upside down and put weights on the wings that would be pretty stable. Ideally you want big heavy things poking out, so they create a center of gravity below the object's support point, like those birds. Linkage

I'd have to agree that all the Tier 2 BC are perfectly balanced against each other.
As a life long drake user, it's been great for missions/exploration when I first started and has been very good to me for piracy which I've been doing for a year or so.
The drake is very versatile and can fill a number of roles for pvp. It can reliably perform well in both gang and solo situations and is one of the most underestimated combat ships in EVE.

Yhea see, what your all doing here is utterly failing to comprehend the concept of "balance" as the op said about the Blackbird, it has great strengths but also significant flaws. Saying that, for instance the Apoc is great for everything means that, in fact, its NOT balanced.
And this lady's and gentlemen is why whe get constant unending streams of complaining about ships, if the're not brilliant at everything u moan that it's "unbalanced " and needs buffing
Guns and ships are fine, boost players :P
To answer the OP I actually struggle to fine an better example of a well balanced ship than the blackbird, the domi, if anything is overpowered, considering its only a tier 1 battleship, with a great tank, fearsome dps, and great inherent flexibility of lots of different drones.
I think I will take the easy option and say the bb's bigger brother the Falcon is the most balanced of the recon. Used properly in the right circumstances, it can be a battlewinner but goes squish very easily if u get something wrong or have a bit of bad luck.

First define "balanced"....You can't use a ships ability to fulfil multiple roles as an indication of balance. It has to be that any clear advantage a ship has in it's design is balanced by a disadvantage. I'd argue, that with a few exceptions, the ships in EVE are pretty well balanced on the whole.
The unbalancing factor is the pilot in all cases.

Edited by: Yakov Draken on 03/07/2008 10:26:44 The Rupture is a well balenced ship. It is neither overpowered nor underpowered - I'm assuming that is what balenced is means in this context. It is a ship they got right and it is also generally fun to fight making for even more win.
I think the Stabber is overpowered. Probably the insane agility more than the speed. But forget I said that and never think of nerfing them.

The mighty Typhoon. From Missile spamming to sniping to drones to logistics to mining, is there anything it can't do?
-It's a minmatar boat that's at it's best spewing torps and rocking an armor tank! -It's got enough low slots to fit extenders that can push it up towards 2000m3 in the hold. With 4x Miner IIs and 4xTorp launchers it can mine that Arkanor AND take out a triple BS spawn. -It's also got enough low slots to fit a decent speed tank -- the Nanophoon '08 ain't what it used to be, but it's still respectable -It's got a 175 m3 drone bay, enough for both a full rack of Berserker IIs AND a full compliment of medium armor rep bots, or 35 Warrior II's if you're crazy like that.
And it looks like a freaking KEG.

The only balanced ship is the Pod in its own class if you class the pod as a ship.
There is NO balanced ship as every ship dont have the same stats or slots and so can not ever be fully balanced vs all other ships in game.
Im sorry but logic says no ship in eve is 100% balanced other than the pod and thats only in its own class. Death is great rember where all dying to get there. |

Id say most of the t1 cruisers are pretty well balanced for their roles. Its getting into t2 and bs that you find the disparity greater. Cruisers just seem to all fill specific roles but are still mostly balanced against others in their ship class.
