Do you hate the lag in EVE as much as I do?
If your answer is yes, I have a solution to our shared dilemma.
I propose we help CCP upgrade their servers by pooling our collective isk into purchasing a metric sh*tload of
Co-Processor I's
to use in upgrading their server nodes. I think about 2500 co-processors should be a good start.
If you want to help in this effort, you can either send myself a donation to purchase a co-processer or two with (going rate is 14,000 ISK per), or contract co-processors to myself in game and I will collect and package them together for CCP and ship them off via interbus to Iceland.
All donations for this charity project are appreciated and will be tallied in this thread.
Thank you for your time fellow pilots. o7

Disregard the profiteer my fellow pilots, he obviously does not care about the CCP as I do. Donation should be sent to Caractacus Potts, the only legitimate Financial Secretary for the CCP Server Upgrade Charity Fund.
Together we can help CCP and help ourselves!

Shouldn't we at least get Tech 2 upgrades? Or has Mitnal, Wrangler, et al not trained Electronic Upgrades high enough yet?

I thought about tech II CPU upgrades, but I am not sure what level of Electronic upgrades that CCP is trained to yet, so decided to play it safe.

I'm confirming that I have sent the OP 1 million ISK - x70 Co-Processor I's please. ____________________

Thank you Amastat, your generous donation has gone to the purchase of 71!!! more Co-processors for CCP. Someday there may be a fleet battle out in the rim somewhere that will take place much much smoother thanks to your help.
EVE would benefit from more players like yourself, as would this charity!

Edited by: Feng Schui on 04/07/2008 01:23:23 Unfortunately, co-processors are only half of the battle. In order to link them all together, you will need to link them together using Hypersynaptic Fibers. Now, I do have the capability to make these, and do own the blueprint, however, I cannot secure enough funds in order to provide you with the quantity that you will need in order to assure redundancy.
For the quantity of needed processors, you will need x=x^2-x. By this chart (sorry, my math is a bit off perhaps):
# Co-processors | # Hypersynaptic fibers
1 | 1 2 | 3 3 | 6 4 | 10 5 | 15 6 | 21

Thank you for the kindly donation Goremageddon Box
Feng Schui, the use of Hypersynaptic Fibers is a tad overkill for this basic upgrade we are aiming for. However, if you can put together a proposal and method to build CCP a supercomputer, perhaps out of your Hypersynaptic Fibers as well as some Quantum Processors and some Superconductors then I would be perfectly willing to provide my financial management services in aiding you in procuring the necessary components to create such a super computer.

Maybe once the goal for Co-Processor I's have been reached, we can go onto the next stage of upgrade, which is pretty much that ^^^ ____________________

This thread is pure gold.
I think 2500 CPUs might be less than what CCP needs, but I guess they can use all the help they can get.
I will donate 1,000,000 ISK for 70 more CPUs. --

A scam involves deception. Unless people really think those co-processors are going to help the server, then I don't think you can qualify it as a scam. At most, it's begging.

This should put us at well over the goal of 2500 Co-Processor I's !!!!! *cheer
I will take this opportunity to reaffirm the fact that this is not a scam, there is no deceit involved, I will be packaging and donating these CPU-upgrades to CCP as a care-package to assist in upgrading the EVE servers. No this is not a licensed charity, but rather a private good-samaritan organization and bound to all regulations thusly.
Sadly, interbus does not ship to Iceland, so I now require everyones' assistance in helping decide which Dev or GM in-game would be the proper recipient of the "CCP Server Upgrade Charity Fund". That lucky representative will get to act as proxy for CCP and distribute these Co-processors as necessary.

Personally if I was the OP, I'd contract these to Tanis corp or something. Then in a way, they ARE going to CCP.
I donated because its just epically gold and hilarious, and made of win, to the point where I don't care what actually happens to the ISK - it's making a statement, and a damn great one too. I know the money is likely going god knows where - so I'm not being tricked, it's just that the thread is awesome to the point where it doesn't matter, and I'm making a statement too.
Basically this ^^^ and I am filthy rich too.
Can you contract items to Tanis corp? I never tried... don't think anyones has. I suppose that you can - but it would never be accepted, unless a Dev came on and saw the corp contract button blinking, and there is a few hundred contracts offered with Co-Processors. ____________________

Thank you Amastat, I hadn't considered just contracting the Charity package to Tanis corp. I will look into that.
Here I was just thinking along the lines of CCP Wrangler or CCP kieron, not sure who was the proper Dev team member.
Also, glad you like the thread

Well, all the current donations have been tallied and the number comes in at a whooping 3198 Co-processors!
A great deal of thanks to all of you my fellow pilots for helping me in achieving this goal o7
I am now undertaking the process of collecting all of the co-processors together in one spot so they can be packaged up. I will keep you all posted.
