well, it happened.
40 or so people signed up, but only about 10 actually turned up on the night 
super-respect to woodwhisper for getting up at 6am in australia ... and being the first to get podded 
since we didn't have enough people to do any damage, I decided that we would just take a tour of 0.0, pester some alliances on local and then either get out or get slaughtered 
we started at Obe, and made 14 jumps deep into PA space (H-PA29), which was almost completely deserted and wide open, until the last couple of gates, where we lost a couple of noobs
several still managed to dock in their pods 
PA didnt want to talk to us 
3 of us made it back out alive, and a couple liked the place so much they decided to stay for a while 
Great fun was had by all, and i have a few chat logs and screen shots to post later
The scariest bit for me was flying through a vast cloud of ogres... looked like about 50 of them 
I would like to thank all those brave noobs who did turn up, and all those who said they would help with the next event.
ps: Its a pity that the forum mods never even replied to my email asking for a sticky on my event thread... maybe more noobs would have signed up
pps: The first 2 ships in and out were both tristans with 2x MWD

Maybe if you called them something a little more respectful than "noobs", more people would show up?
Just a thought.
Oh, and not all people read these forums, I suggest you go and anchor secure cans with the relevant information near some popular starting systems (can't anchor in the 1.0 systems themselves sadly).

Heck yeah it was fun.
we were mostly doomed from the start but we accepted that and sallied forth into the wild reaches of space in search of adventure and screenshots.
7/8/9 jumps into our run the place was empty, heck there was nobody there, Venal space is about as wide open as you can get it looks like.
I only encountered 1 scorp who was so badly positioned at a gate that he had no chance of scrambling me at all, only just got the lock as i got to the gate.
We ended up in a Guristas Assembly Plant where those who survived the run stayed for a short while to regroup, of course there in lay our error but it was fun regardless.
Of the group who entered the station I was the first to die upon coming out. I didn't stay long enough to find out who got out okay, I was being summoned elsewhere : )
Got yer name Meow, drop me a message next event and we'll see about making it big.

and the pub ended up getting the better of my need to die.
Also can you make the next run slightly closer to Placid?
25 jumps when you don't get home until 7.45 Eve time is a bit of a push

yer I had quite alot of fun I doubt I can go on another though as I've been playing 6 weeks now and not exactly a noob anymore and I definatly won't be in 2 weeks, but it was extremly fun, I'd like to know who was shooting at me at the gates but I did'nt exactly have time to stop and look and them logs get cleared after jumps.

I was in the area and went along with them. Ship destroyed twice, podded once. didnt see what happened to them as it was more of a coincidence we even traveled together.

The logs are stored on the hard drive aswell. Go find out
