I cant get the launcher to update my client
I start the launcher it goes like this Click eve online launcher it says Initializing.. then goes to (1/3): Creating EVE_Online_344784-349998.patch 0.0% (the numbers have changed a little and then says Client update was unsuccessful and a nice little popup windows even comes up and say Data Package unavailable The server you are connecting to doesn't have a published update package i hit ok on that popup window, and the launcher and i look at one another (i think its trying to kill me
however now sometimes i ge Exception during UpdaterModule.Update followed by some code, looks like what other ppl are getting, but it wont let me paste it here, says something about html or whatever.
I have tried the repair tool, it does nothing it starts up and then stops and a popup says Repair tool Error Data package unavailable the last line on the repair tool thing says PackageUnavailableError: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/349998/RepairData_349998.dat
I would have liked to reported this through a petition but thats not working sends me to some error page. I would also like to just download the patch manually and import it into the launcher, but no.
Things i have tried rebooted computers over 3times now and then run repair tool first thing disabled my virus scanner (avg) Disabled windows firewall i am using windows XP 32bit
any help would be great thanks |

How "Disabled" is AVG when disabled. Are you just disabling the auto scan or can you shutdown the entire AV suite?
You may want to uninstall it completely then try the patcher again. If that doesn't work then there are other things we can try.
It definitly sounds just like a plain connection issue thus far. |

Hmm.. I too have used my cell from time to time and never had an issue. You mention your having issues even filing a petition. Thats odd.. Though maybe outside of my limited networking knowledge if the CCP servers aren't to blame, I'd say a Proxy trick or even DNS change (temporarily) might be worth a shot. any CCP guys wanna chime in here and confirm everything is "UP" on your end?
Hmm when you click on http://cdn1.eveonline.com/349998/RepairData_349998.dat what do you get? It should download the .dat file which you may be able to put in the repair tools cache and use it to patch the game. :/i if you cannot reach that (which I can from My phone) then you have a issue with your network... |

Hi, it looks as though the Repair Tool is requesting an old build. This could be the result of a cached patchinfo file. Please try the work-around mentioned in the following thread:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=939371#post939371
This should allow the Repair Tool to download data from the latest build (350962). |

Update does not work, Repair Tool does not work, reboots does not work, disable Antvirus/ Firewall will not work.
I give it a last try and deinstall everything. I will download the client again and try to do a fresh install.
If this does not work I will cancel my subscription. I am tired things brakes with each update

i tried this through Firefox, and internet explorer (god i feel dirty) does not work. when i open that file in IE it shows the following BUILD:350962, 350962, 2012.03.14 0,0,0
both the launcher and repair tools are doing the same things as before, nothing. I also tried rebooting and doing that file thing first thing and still the repair tool and launcher are no gos.

i dont know how do do this proxy trick or dns change or what your referring too. however when i click on the .dat file i get Fetching the page failed due to too large request or content. i am thinking the problem for that is the data plan on the phone. unsure though as i can surf the internet just fine and eve was working fine before. i had no problems with anything relating to the internet before this patch.
well im done with eve for tonight will give it another go in the morning. |

I am experiencing a similar issue, but let me explain the 'backstory' first.
I recently started playing eve again. I had it downloaded through steam, and obviously had to update a good deal. When I tried to do this, the update crashed with an error suggesting it couldn't find a file/directory, and at the top, it seemed that it wasn't really handling unicode correctly, as there are icelandic characters in my name. Come on, guys.. It's 2012 and you can't write a patcher that handles unicode?
I redownloaded eve through steam. That didn't work. I removed it and downloaded the client from your site, and installed it to a directory that had no unicode characters in its path. It seemed to work, finally. Now I start the launcher, intent on playing eve, it says something about an update.. all good. It downloads the launcher update and then simply doesn't start again. I try starting it, and regardless of whether I start the launcher or eve.exe itself, it shows up in the task manager and dies immediately. The repair tool now fails with the same error as the patcher did before; here is the output(NOTE: There are still unicode characters in my windows username, so if the repair tool is failing because it's trying to access %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\.. well, I'm guessing unicode is the reason again.)

EDIT: P.S: I expect to be reimbursed for the gametime I have lost. It's closing in on 1.5 days, now, in total. |

NOW im pissed off
nothing is working for updating the client i have tried every "work around" and none worked for me So i went ahead and uninstalled eve, i goto install it and what do you know happens its all screwed
EVE_Online_Installer_351477 that is the installer that i have it starts up, but right when its suppose to Start downloading stuff it fucks up, and the progress bar fills realy fast and then it goes onto a different thing saying
Completing the EVE Online Setup An Unknown error occured while downloading the installer payload Click here to download manually
let me tell you about the download manually funnest i can download the Executable just by clicking on it and a nice download thing comes up But wait when i click on the Payload 1 i get taken to a page that say "Fetching the page failed due to too large request or content but in the address bar it shows the link of the .7z fil Does this for both payload
the fun doesnt stop boys and girls I go and download and install Free Download Manager first one that showed up on google i click on the .7z file and drag it over to the downloader it has a nice popup saying do you want to download this, i say yes. it then goes like this Starting Download Unknown server error Pause 5 sec Starting Download Unknown server error Pause 5 sec Starting Download Unknown server error Pause 5 sec Starting Download Unknown server error Pause 5 sec
Does that for both files,
Not impressed and very pissed as now that i uninstalled eve i cant do anything other then try and download something that it seems i cant download oh yea baby
ps why does the draft restorer cut letters off when it restores a freakin draft |

Hey folk, if you have a phone with a good data plan on it, try tethering your eve machine to it and patching over mobile internet . If you have access to a different ISP or VPN service, try that too.
Please make sure your data plan is adequate if you plan on trying out mobile internet. It can be seriously pricey some places.
This might be some kind of network rather than a software issue. It may have snuck in coincidentially with the launcher release.

Unless you have unlimited I would not reccomend burning through your Phones Data Plan all on 1 trial of EVE files lol.
You may want to check my post here and try using Jdownloader instead to download the main install files.
Supposidly they are working again through these links, but I have only tested downloading them but not actually finished and installed them (work comp. Nono) If I helped you out, Technical Issue,-áenemy gank, popped your poor fit,-áhit the "Like" button. |

well now that was a fun week. so it ended up that my download issue was due to my mobile provider limiting the http or something like that file sizes. so i ended up hijacking my aunts computer and downloaded the installer and payloads and then installed them on my computer.
not sure what ended up fixing all this, as no setting changed on my computer from the time i uninstalled eve until tonight when i reinstalled it. it updated with zero problems what so ever
I hope everyone else that was or still is having problems is able to get it fixed, and enjoy ship spinning once again.
thanks to those that tried to help me out, your suggestions for fixing were worth trying.
enjoy |
