Edited by: Styrmir on 19/05/2004 13:13:55 Edited by: Styrmir on 19/05/2004 13:09:08 From the link to Shiva info on Filefront there are links to various other sites that seem to be selling isk, macros and exploit tips.
Is this not highly illegal?
When are you going to do something about those sites CCP?
I am quite worried about this stuff. All looks like "cheating" to me
And btw CCP. Will you please remove that link to Filefront even though they have Shiva info. They seem to be a part of it :-(

Illegal? No. Theres no laws against cheating in a game.
Against the EULA and a bannable offence? Yup, far as I know.

True. But I don't see how you can ban Filefront from playing eve - they're a website, not an eve account holder
Still, I'm sure CCP will want to yank that interview if it's being shown alongside links and adverts to cheat sites. I'm surprised they didn't insist on that condition before even giving it; maybe they did, and Filefront are an untrustworthy lot. I wouldn't know.

The adds are 'Google ads' and so filefront has no control over them... and they show up on a few sites not sure there is anything that ccp can do about it though, apart from ban who are found to brake the EULA |

Don't tell them how to do it, then. *edit: and thx for having the sense to realise that and remove it *
And should a GM come by to check and fail to get a response out of you when he pokes you with his afk testing stick, they'll ban your account. That'll prevent it sure enough.

Well put.
I was mainly wondering though if it was illegal for the websites to deal in this.
Well, I guess they are hosted in some offshore island mini-state. |

I hope anyone buying or using cheats in this game gets caught and is banned.
I love eve and I had to work hard to get everything I have. So, everyone should have to do the same. Fair is fair.

well, I actually had loads of fun in gathering what I have now. I don't consider it as "hard" work exactly, just as a real effective time sink^^

You just described CCP being in Iceland. Safe to say that alot of fansite are gonna not be in the same country as the game developer so even if they could find some national law to use against someone, it wouldn't work. At one point they laid down the law and were banning accounts left and right after a certain item duplicating exploit. But other than that they haven't been real active in trying to stop 3rd party sales of items AFAIK, almost every MMOG that has items/money involved in it will find it's way to auction sites.
Some people just take thier gaming a TAD more seriously than others and are willing to fork over RL money for pixals.

I didn't mean Iceland at all I am from there myself.
I was referring to the "tax and law paradises" e.g. in the Carabean where many the gambling sites are hosted so US (or other) law does not apply to them.

Yep, macros etc are filthy and the CCP should lay the smack down where ever possible. I was stunned myself when I first noticed those ads... ____________________________________________ Ideas Lab - Forum Search Feature - Sign me! |

Locked for dicussion of Exploits and Macros.
I will, however pass this onto a GM or Dev, and get them to look into it.
UPDATE: The Devs and kieron are aware, and are looking into the issue

The Dev Team are aware of this and should be taking steps to correct the situation.
