Diplomacy Skill not affecting the ability to join FW

Hightail	Posted - 2008.07.05 00:22:00 - [1] I don't understand the thinking on this... My Caldari standing is -0.03 with diplomacy 2 it should be +0.77 BUT i still can not join the militia. Does anyone know if connections affects it properly because if it doesnt that means I can't participate at all. Please fix!! what I assume is a bug

Moreover, it can give you an higher standing than you'd have if you had +0.01. That's illogic. _________ Someday, EVE may look like this.

Hightail	Posted - 2008.07.05 02:22:00 - [8] Alright so I guess it's meant to be that way. What kind of time would it take to get to 0.5 from -0.03 ? I can only do level 2 missions (Ive never really done missions except in cases of extreme boredom) in my Cerberus =P Cheers for any advice

The rats will surrender before you fire a shot. COSMOS missions are probably a faster way to get there, though. That or those fancy data centers they have now, but you need to collect tags for that, I think. Looking for queue-free research slots? Click here!

So if you have lvl 5 diplomacy, <faction you'e not had much to do with> don't care about you one way or another. If you then go out and kill a pile of their ships, you get given some negative standings but because of the diplomacy they like you. For blowing up their own stuff. I always thought the diplomacy skill reduced your negative standings, ie it was the same as connections but for negatives. So diplomacy could make you negative standings less negative (so, eg, navy ship won't shoot you in highsec or to maybe help you get that first lvl 1 agent before they all hate you forever) but wouldn;t give you any actual positive standings as thats what connections is for..
