Hi,
Having recently been introduced to EVE Online through the buddy program, I've now upgraded my 7 day trial into a full payment account. But something has been on my mind. Has the downloadable EVE Online client been chopped in anyway or form ? What I mean is, has CCP lowered the games quality of textures, or removed pieces of music, or removed any movie sequences to make the downloadable client as small as possible? I think this, because Asheron's Call 2 once did a 14 day trial, and allowed you to download the full game client, but the games textures were low in quality, and so, the game looked a bit dull. So I went out and bought Asheron's Call 2, and was able to play the game in high quality detail. I'm guessing other MMO games follow this suite too, in order to make the client as small as possible. So, has the EVE Online downloadable client had things removed to compensate for the fairly small file size ?

Edited by: Lufio II on 19/05/2004 15:15:03 you don''t have a manual on paper and no Box. But beside that the client is the same.
<Edit> spelling
oh and: I wouldn't say that the downloadable client is small at all </Edit> |

Nope what you get off the site is whateveryone else has.
It''d be pointless to ship less textures than the game should have in a demo because graphics are important to a lot of people and if they can''t experience it first hand a lot would be turned off.
So in answer and in short without rambling too much,
No, theres nothing missing from your copy of EVE : ) |

He will be glad he does not have a manual. I binned mine on the first day of playing as it is now so out of date as to be funny.
The downloadable client is exactly the same as that provided on the CD (Except that it is a higher patch revision) |

Having only the downloadable client myself I'm in no way able to make statements about the quality of the manual. And well, there's at least one online manual anyway. They're in the help channel and write colored in chat

Manuals with store bought mmogames are always great like that.
I remember the last one i bought (before Eve) I thought it was for a different game. ________________________________________________

90% of what I see written in colored text in the Help channel is incorrect. I've seen them telling people it's ok to randomly PvP in 0.5 space, telling people that tech2 cruiser and battleship BPs are on the market, telling people that learning skills aren't worth the training time, telling people that the skill loss bug is a graphics error, telling people that anyone with a bounty is safe to fire at in secure space regardless of their security sttus.
TONS more stuff like that.
There's PKers and griefers in that channel giving out better information and Help.
