The fact that Sharkbait handed out the bans personally indicates to me that he has a personal axe to grind with Garmon.
First CCP handed out T2 BPO's to help their friends, now CCP is handing out bans to discourage the only warrior strong enough to pod their alts.

You're looking the situation with a "clean slate" perspective, which is impossible. Some people have already racked up priors warnings, suspensions, bannings, or other disciplinary actions in the past. One person with 2 prior offenses will get treated differently than another first time offender.

The people who got banned deserved it, its not like its hidden somewhere that pyramid quoting is against the rules. People just thought 'oh alot of people are doing it, they won't ban us all'

unless it is your alt there is no possible way you could know for sure.
I think the real question is what determines the length of the ban. I have a friend who did have prior warnings who got 30 days for the pyramid post, but I know other people who had prior warnings only got 3 days in one case and 7 in another.
