I am thinking of joining a corp and have put the word out... I have had some interest in my skills but would like to know a few things first:
1. Can anyone in the corp see inside my personal hanger? 2. Can anyone in my corp track where I am, or have been? 3. Sharing my API number with the members of the corp so they can suggest better training paths, good idea? I suspect not! 4. Is there a recording system for putting stuff into the corp hanger and taking it out, like an audit log or similar?
The corp I like the look of is a commy corp, when I saw the tax rate I thought they meant comi-cal;
5. Can I cherry pick what I let them have and what I keep for myself in anyway
Thanks in advance

Hi
Here is some answers:
1) Some/all members of corp (depending on security rights) can see what you have in your personal hangar... but only in those stations where corp has a corp hangar.
2) Some/all (again, depending on rights) can see where you is now but there is no record kept of where you have been.
3) Sharing your limited API can't hurt... and you can always generate a new API if you no longer want others to have access to it.
4) There is no recording systems for corp hangars by themself... but there exist audit log containers that record what is taken in and out of them.
5) No-one can force you to give the corp anything... but no-one can force the corp to keep you as a memeber if they don't like you...
and about tax: You have to look at what the corp offers you for your tax ISK... A corp with a high tax rate should at least offer you free ships and modules (up to a certain point) if they should expect you to join.

1: Those with the correct roles in the corporation can see inside your personal hanger, and place things in it, but not take anything from it. However, I'm not entirely sure if this relys on there being a corporate office in that station or not.
2: Members with the correct roles can see what ship you are flying and what system you are in.
3: As long as you use the limited API key there is very little that can happen. They can see what skills you have, what you are training, and, I think, how much money you have, as well as what characters are on that account. There is nothing else they can do with the API key, and if you want to you can change your key so that the old one no longer works.
4: I think there is, but I don't know for sure as I have never really bothered to check it out.
5: I'm sure you can, but I don't know whether they'd appreciate it if they are a communist coporation

1: Yeah directors can see your personal items hanger, however they cant see into containers, so you can hide stuff in there if you dont want anyone to know about it.
2: Directors can know where you are at any time and what ship your in from their corp tab, other corp members can see you with the ''who corporation members in space'' tab on the map if your in space
3: With high level api they know who other chars on your account are and how much is in your wallet and I THINK your wallet log but not sure, I wouldnt give this out tbh but its not the end of the world if you do, I have given out my high level api key to my alliance before so it could be used for auto forum access.
4: I dont think so but I'm not certain
If I were you I would avoid commie corps like the plague, they are usually run by a selfish ceo or a scam or the ceo just runs away with everything half the time, the only except are the bob communist corps like reikoku who are well run in comparison to most it would appear. However a communist corp in empire is probably a recipe for you being robbed altho ppl may disagree with me on that.

A reasonable tax rate is anywhere from 0% to 15% my corp is at 10% just enough to fuel our POS and save for another. As to advancement My corp advanced on merit rather than seniority or Number of skill points. If they are competant at a job and are an active member most of the time they will end up with the position. Now im not trying to turn this into a recruting thread but rather toss out a few things to look for. Also check out your prospective CEO (you can be sure he/she is checking you out). How many corps has he/she been in? How many did they start? Hhow many are closed? How often does this person change corps? contact thier past CEOs do they have anything good to say about this person? These are questions I learned to ask after I got burned in a high tax corp. I hope this helps you out.

so, you got burned, which means you jumped corps, and likely the CEO that "burned" you would not give you or anyone else a positive review, if future corp CEOs asked it of them. So, from this perspective, you might say that your own view of caution can also be seen on people who were victims as if they are possible perpetrators instead.

Neither API key (limited or full) gives them any power to do anything to your character or assets, but the full one does let them know things like what's in your hangar. The limited API key is useful for a lot of applications: EveMon, EFT, InEVE.net. It's safe to give that out.
