As a trader I was very pleased with the market map functionality of Build 1058. The "you are Here" sighting was useful. The ability to see regionwide supply and demand across all systems, etc.
Now, with the exception that navigational capability was added to the market map, the new version for 1077 is really not very user friendly. In fact, it is nowhere near as useful as Build 1058.
I am not one to criticize lightly, but this market supply/demand map change was truly ill-considered. I would request that you give strong consideration to reverting the market map functionality to the Build 1058 capablity. I do not think I am alone in saying that your trading community would be very appreciative if you would do it quickly.

YES PLEASE RESTORE THE MARKET!!! What¦s the problem? The old market was very reviewable, but the new one looks like an old version of it. :( I¦m a miner but also a trader like many players, so please do something with an upcoming patch. PLEASE !!!

Miners, Traders, Manufacturers all need a reliable and workable market model in order to do business efficiently. I second the gentleman's request and agree that the markets were MUCH more functional and practical in the previous build. This has to be a bug that the dev's didn't look at in this patch. I would also ask kindly for the dev team to reconsider the actions taken on the markets by them to date. --------------------------------------------- "People can always be counted on to assert, with vigor, their God given right to be stupid!" - Dean Koontz |

yeah, the advanced market map is much harder to use now, but the quick search (or whatever its called - where you can put icons of minerals or whatever at the bottom right) is a great idea - keep that.

Yes, PLEASE restore the old market screen.
If you don't think it's worse, just try finding supply/demand for something in the Domain region... without a zoom or rotate button, and with those ridiculously huge green&red halos around everything, it's nigh-on impossible to analyse the market.
If you restored the old market screen, but kept the new functions like the Set Waypoint, it'd be awesome.

Hell, just give us a 'text only' option, so we can view them all in a table.
Preferable with nifty options like sorting by price, distance, volume, etc.. but even without those it would be worlds better than either map.

I second this. The new market is a joke.

Just a text listing with export to csv would be fine. :)

I have to agree on this one too - the new market map is horribly clunky compared to the old delicate and easily readable one. Please keep new functionality though!

Could you guys please be a bit more precise? Please write down what is good and what is bad in the current market map.
I dont want to loose the improved mouse over functionality and the set destination menu entry. I agree the supply/demand visualisation circuits are to big, but with different zoom levels they are ok.
Btw. zoom levels are already back in the current chaos build.

Basically for me the problems are related to the graphics:
1. The old map had a circle which said 'you are here'. This is now missing. 2. The old map had much finer route lines and smaller halos. These were made it much easier to differentiate between systems and areas where demand/supply existed. A zoom function would obviously alleviate this to a degree, but would mean much more scrolling around rather than a quick glance and review of what's going on. I would say returning to the graphical look of the older market map would fix all my problems with the market screen.
I suspect that people with poorer monitors may not have been able to view the lines easily, and this has been why they've been made into the yucky bold ones now. If this is the case then please make it an option rather than borking the screen for everyone.
On the plus side, all the new functionality is great - but as a regular trader any time saved is lost when faced with deciphering a wall of green overlapping halos. Old graphics + new functions = perfect!

The new interface have issues yes .. with Zoom back it will get better and as stated by others the supply/demand circles are too big.
The big downside with the interface is that it is in 2d and really hard to distinguish if a system is 1 jump or 10 jumps away cause its 2d and you cant turn it around.
Suggestion: put in a "plot route" interface on market so you can plot a route between 2 systems on the map and estimate the jumps needed. This need to be independent from "my current destination" IE you should be able to plot a route between 2 systems and not be docked at one of them. Also this should be possible even to systems outside your region if you know the name of the "out of region system" , but only the number of jumps , nothing else.

I played just a few days before the patch, but wasn't it also possible to rotate the maps?
Would like that back/implemented so I can have a better look at what is where.

I trade extensively myself. The market map did change slightly, however, I have no trouble locating myself. If you do not know where you are located, then you have biggerproblems than a market UI change. lol.
In any case, the improvements are many-fold. I love the market-quick-bar, the new flexible size of the map, the new "paged" transacation panel of the wallet, the buyer/seller name now listed on the transactions list.
As always each new version of EVE is a vast improvement, with many new features. It's shame some are so quick to complain about anything new or different. It's laziness I suppose. people don't want to have to learn a new system.
anyways, I love the changes, & keep up the great work, CCP. -- Jump Drive Operation / Rank 5 / SP: 1280000 of 1280000

For the most part the market patches are good. But you have to admit that the 1058 market diagram looked way better. Presentation counts.

Well it's obviously not a huge issue, but it is handy to have.

I think you'll find it's called providing feedback on the things you like (and we liked the old map). No one has criticised the new features in the market screen, only the way it has been presented graphically.
The point is that before you could glance at the map and instantly get a clear overview of what was going on in a region. Now in 'busy' you have no choice other than to start mousing over areas, and if it's an unfamiliar one you also need to use one of the other maps to explore routes.
>> anyways, I love the changes, & keep up the great work, CCP. >>
As do we all.

about the market map : - good points : 1. little circle around a system when the mouse hovers on it. much better than previously, when the mouse pointer changed in a cross and you could exactly figure out what system you were pointing. the system name and some info balloon appearing immediately is great, too. 2. the quick bar. very useful. 3. the history (although it never shows anything to me at the moment). 4. the navigation functions.
- bad points : 1. the zoom/panning HAS to come back. 2. the "you are here" too.
- stuff that would be great : 1. a "text only" version in table layout, as mentioned above by someone. 2. a rotate control for the map. 3. it could be useful to be able to maximize/unmaximize the market window (making it span from top to bottom instead of the upper part of the screen). that option also goes for the other station services windows.

The "you are here" is still there, it's just a small red circle around your current system (easily distinguished from the halos because it's solid red not alpha blended). As to the bolder jump lines, I'm curious what the problem is with those specifically.
I *love* the fact you can set a destination directly from the market map and see a yellow line showing the path. The new advanced market map completely replaces the "real" map, which I've always found too busy and annoying to use, at least for intra-regional transit.
The only real problem I can see with the new advanced map is the halos are too large. A halo should never overlap multiple other systems, or even one other system, unless it's one of those situations, like Cistuvaert and Masalle, where the stars themselves almost overlap.
