Wireless ones, overall, are a lot heavier, less comfortable, and have worsened sound quality. It's best to steer clear of them, as even the cheap ones cost a load of money for what they are.
Figure out where to lead the wire, and you shouldn't have much of a problem with a wired set 族---族

Get hold of a SteelSeries Siberia Neckband.
Comfortable, and it's wired but the cable entry doesn't get in the way.
Also doubles as an awesome Ipod headset as it has a retractable microphone. Sound quality is top notch.

You might want to try a bluetooth headset, together with push-to-talk those work reasonably although the sound quality takes a slight hit in both directions. I had issues with latency, as in, people would hear me start talking mid-sentence, and trying to correct for that is annoying.
Also, when the batteries of your headset run out, you'll get to see all kinds of software that might use audio crash, because it's apparently very hard to cope with that for windows XP. -- .sig apathy ftw |

the wires on any decent wired headset are going to have plenty of length anyway and be relatively light. same deal with mice, and wireless keyboards are just stupid ...

I recently got a Sennheiser brand wireless headset, they were 170$, but they are honestly amazingly comfortable, lighter than my corded headset, and they have incredibly good quality, I would REALLY recommend getting that brand if you are going to buy one.

Imagine how good a WIRED Sennheiser would be, and less costly aswell.
Generally, wireless stuff is simply of lower quality than wired stuff. First there's the reception - Which is usually good, but can be much more easily disturbed than wired. In case of mouses, there is a small factor of lag involved, depending n brand and tech (and yes, especially if you play FPS a lot you can notice delays as small as ~10-20ms on reaction times). Then there's battery life. Hardly a day goes by when i don't see anyone complaining about how their wireless mouse ran out of juice.
Headsets don't suffer from the lag issue, obviously (at least it's much less noticable), but they do have other downsides.
Firstly, the power supply is built in. This means the headset is heavier than it's wired version, and the power supply can sometimes interfere with both recording and playback.
Secondly, since a wireless headset has both a power supply and the wireless receiver built in, it is built differently from it's wired version, particularly where playback is concerned. The speakers will almost always be of a lower quality due to size restrictions, aswell as interference from the PSU and the receiver.
The *only* advantage of a wireless device over it's wired variant is that it's wireless. Everything else is worse. Whether that's worth the (usually higher) price for you is something you can decide for yourself.
