Scammerio	Posted - 2008.07.06 16:21:00 - [1] I'm looking for an analysis on the pros & cons of the 3 base Amarrian BSes, relative to each other. Did a forum search, but it only turned up outdated fitting info. I've been looking at an Armageddon or an Apocalypse, and I'm mostly going to be using it for 0.0 ratting or missions in high-sec. Thanks in advance.
Boz Well	Posted - 2008.07.06 16:26:00 - [2] Geddon will work well for ratting and it's a great pvp boat. Apoc will work for either ratting/missions, although it's probably not the best fit for ratting (has lots of cap you don't need and no damage bonus). Baddon puts out sick DPS, but has cap issues, and as such it'd be fine for ratting but I'd avoid it for missions until you have max cap skills (and even then, some cap implants). Once you can handle the cap drain though it puts out a pretty absurd amount of DPS. For ratting, I'd probably go with geddon early on (cheap, disposable, good DPS). For missions early on, I'd go with Apoc. Save the Abaddon for when your skills are top notch.

With T1 pulses you're going to be chasing ships all over the place and your isk/hour will suffer for it. I'd use apoc because you can sit still and easily blast everything around you while staying aligned for the next belt or a safespot. While it doesnt have a damage bonus specifically, in reality the range bonus serves as one. This is because you're able to use multifrequency crystals at greater range, letting you use higher dps crystals on ships that would be out of range for the geddon or the abaddon. It's also much cheaper than the abby. It's all a matter of style, of course, but I ratted for quite a while in the geddon and didn't like it whatsoever. Its strength is pvp action, not NPCing Also- buy faction ammo. It's worth it

The geddon really comes to life with T2 pulses and scorch lenses. Until then, it's big, heavy (granted, not nearly so heavy as it's larger counterparts) and has miserable range... and not enough fitting room to put mega beams on it. The Apoc makes an outstanding rookie platform for ratting and missions alike. Put beams with multifreq on it and you'll get about 40-50km and can cruise control through rat spawns without having to waste valuable minutes afterburning around. edit: To put it in to perspective, the apoc's damage is quite similar to a Cruise Raven, without having to deal with defender missiles. It tanks easy peasy which leaves lots of room for damage mods. ---

The apoc preforms outstandingly as a ratter and as a fleet ship The abby preforms superbly as a pvp ganker, or a mission runner. Honestly? You are better off buying an apoc, (or two) for 0.0 life.

Riho Gallente Mercenary Forces	Posted - 2008.07.07 10:39:00 - [12] Armageddon: Geddon is my favorite pvp amarr BS. simple reason: cost vs usefullness. i can get abaddon over 1000 dps but the ship cost 150mil. i pay 60 mil for a geddon and get same dps. i feel that geddon is more of the PvP and ratting BS. i wouldnt recomend it in missions. tho it can be used very well in missions too. only downside is 3 mids, but i dont have a big issue whit that :D Pros Cheap as hell very nice dps (you can get easy over 1000 dps whit ok skills on that thing) Golden Epeen. Good in pvp ok in PvE cons need quite abit of drone skills to get good dps. 3 mids others have more armor HP Apocalypse Apoc is the new sniper boat for amarr. whit the optimal range bonus, you can easily get the range needed for fleet fights without using insane amount of tracking enhancers and tracking computers. whit a great capacitor you can shoot quite a while. in missions its a great ship. you can shoot whit close range/high damage weapons to quite far + you can rep at the same time. in my opinion: very good mission ship, very good sniper. Pros sick range (even whit pulses) awesome capacitor very nice in pvp due to cap in pvp... very good sniper in pve it can tank and shoot better than other Cons lowest dps amarr BS Abaddon the most expencive on of the 3. it has a resist bonus... that means whit plate fit it can have insane ammount of Hit points and super resists at the same time. good damage from the guns whit damage bonus, but as it doesnt have the cap use bonus like the others have... it will eat cap very fast when shooting. whit good skills this beast can be very good for pvp (close range and long range) and also very good at missions. Pros Very insane dps from just guns only resist bonus alot of HP Good in pve due to a large alpha hit good in pvp for the nice dps lots of PG Cons due to no cap bonus on the ship.. shooting guns and active tanking is complicated expencive ------------------------------- these are my views on these ships. some might disagree but i should have hit most points :) ---------------------------------- Fighting for Minmatar o7 Yes... this is my main. Kinetic hardeners are meant vs. Guristas, so use racial Hardeners and Drones appropriate to the faction u wish to rat against. 2x Hardeners is enough, and using meta 4 turrets + MF helps you perma run tank + lasers - or cap out after more than 8-9min or running both with less than perfect skills. Range is adequate and MWD helps you get closer faster. The Named MWD is easier on cap usage than the T2 one. ECM drones are there for defense against a single predator. You can use Heavies to increase your dps, tho these are usually too slow to help against things bigger than frigs. Mega Pulse II + Scorch are nice, but due to the very high ROF in a geddon with 3x HSs these ware out a bit fast...thus I tend to prefer T1 ammo over T2. MP II can raise your dps even with T1 ammo, tho cap efficiency is a tad lower. When ratting in remote systems where roaming nano HASs are a regular thread, use a Cloaking device. Thanks in advance. Ahhh a question im good at THANK YOU! pve:Geddon is cheaper, more dps, more drones and a free high for something like a cloak. Apoc has range, and can use tachs. Pvp:Geddon is cheaper, usually has a better buffer, it generally closerange but can hit things out to 40+km with longrange ammo. Apoc is now a great sniper, range bonus and can use tachs.

Thanks in advance. Based on how you plan to use it - and if I had to choose between those two ships, I would choose the Apoc hands down. Neither of those two ships is "best" choice though. What I used my abaddon for in pvp is defensive gatecamps, where I can ensure their within pulse range and I had a rich capbooster source and rep place after every battle(I used a buffer tank 8x mega pulse setup).
