I didn't expect FW to end so soon. I give it two weeks before the caldari militia surrenders.

Originally by: BobbySteelz Lol The Secret Fleet are renters? that's funny considering they were bruce for quite some time. Show's people don't really give a crap in the long run greed rules. Proof is in the pudding eh PL...
Yes, we came to Fountain with "make some isk in a great region" in mind. BRUCE collapsing was just an unfortunate side effect.
I don't believe that PL has ever held any ill will towards the general BRUCE membership, just certain leaders that continued to mislead them time after time.
Perhaps 'The Secret Fleet' see that joining under the banner of an ally is worth it, to get assets out of Fountain since the above mentioned BRUCE leadership left them out to dry. Or maybe they just like Fountain and wish to continue living here. Whichever way you want to view it, they are blue to us and are probably having a grand time since its so quiet here.

Unfortunately 0.0 is basically down to two entities. Technically three, but the third has already gone long past any ability to hold up alone versus either of the other two.
You have:
Redswarm
BOB and pets
Northern NAPfest
And from there basically no one else, everyone else in order to hold any space has to be subservient to Redswarm, a BOB pet, or is part of the Northern NAPfest. Of the three, the least stable is the North, which has sat around twiddling their thumbs while Redswarm consumes former pets much like Europe watching Germany in the 1930's. "Yeah, they just want the moons, let them have them and they will leave us alone", or "oh, it's just SmashKill, no one likes them anyway", etc. I suspect everyone currently blue to Redswarm who isn't RA or former RA, or Goon, or TCF/UL will eventually be liquidated.
BOB, being super wealthy has already proven that it's unassailable when backed into Delve. Considering they are at least as bad (if not worse) than the Redswarm, they are hardly deliverance from the scourge.
So, yeah, things look rather bleak right now. Fortunately, powerblocks come, powerblocks go. Even RA has fractured and fallen apart in the past. Eventually, like BOB did, they will spread themselves too thin and the balance will shift. But you are looking at this winter at the earliest.

that, or you need a brain.
@OP: nevertheless, if you wish to go to 0.0, and you don't have that much experience, I would try to make regular excursions to the inner rim npc 0.0 (pure blind, syndicate, curse), and get to learn the ropes of it.
after a couple of months in it, you'll be ready for nearly anything what 0.0 can throw at you.
thats slightly unfair grim, it isnt like it used to be; "period".
Its much harder for people to make incursions in to 0.0 than it was back in the day, however; in general its a good thing.
now you cant just meander in and start ratting and have to use your nouse, in many ways this prepares you of things to come so it is a good thing.
@ op, id advise realistically joining a renter alliance; the main issue thesedays is standings and getting yourself some place safe to run. Its very hard to get blues with existing alliances especially if you have little to offer.
if your determined to get your self bedded in on your own your first step should really be with force recon, cover ops and stealth bombers. you can get in , move about and check the place out pretty unmolested if you are doing things right, if you dont care about ****ing off the locals you can even pop and person or 2. ;)
so in short, look at renter alliances or start slowly with covert ops, this should give you a decent idea about the area - each have there charm ;) ohh except geminate and the drone space, thats just pants ;)

The only real way of making this work in 0.0 these days is to base yourself out of one of the npc station regions and work like hell to get a decent size and to get efficient in pvp. At this point you will have something to offer as an ally rather than a renter.
You "may" be then able to take a constellation somewhere that doesn't already have sov for yourself. You will never take a station that you don't build yourself, and tbh as soon as you build one it will be taken from you. Eve is all about isk now and if they can take what you have and sell it, then you wont be able to have it.
Tbh tho there are a lot of advantages in living in npc 0.0 space that are overlooked. I think that it sharpens corps and alliances up.

Try the Goons systems down south...they are deserted most of the time since Goons are ratting in Geminate nowadays. Ya know , some SMASH guy told them the Guristas in Geminate spawn even faster than Goons do and now Goons are trying to prove otherwise in order to keep their reputation unspoiled. Nevertheless , the Guristas always drop better loot!

Not true!
You can't take over space, but you can live, roam and fight in it easily enough if you know what you are doing.

Edited by: BobbySteelz on 08/07/2008 20:39:12 Fountain is most likely one the best regions for ratting/mining/moonwhoring. Tons of nice entrances into the places as well as NPC stations in the center(YZ-LQL,Serpentis Prime/A-1CON) and can't forget the faction spawns! Entrances come through delve into y-2ANO from cloud ring into J5A-IX, outer ring into XF-TQL oh yeah and can't forget sexy Aridia entrance through hophib into D4KU-5.
When the bruces(R.I.P) first moved in there were tons of farmers from the days of bob having sov yet the place was a ghost town. I expect the cloaky isk farming ravens to be out there in force along with the current renters. If PL are not hunting the farmers I don't expect them to be caught.
Last if your not using a scout, well you'll probably die. Scouts save lives.
