I dont believe it, now people are whining that you cant kill an indy using insta jumps?? And you call yourself pirates??
I can personally think of a config that can kill them before they jump :)

Didn't you know?
The issue of insta-jumps has nothing to do with pirates now (since theres warp disruptors in game)... its to do with realism now

What's not realistic in insta-jumping?
If I'm a navigator and I'm using a predefined system map of coordinates to jump to a known stargate, I'll jump to what was set in the database... however, once I've been there, what would prevent me from setting new coordinates to jump in closer to it?
It's a totally valid tactic and only means the player who insta-jumps knows how to get prepared and spent a long time to set well placed bookmarks in order to avoid blockades.
I've done safe insta-jump routes of 44 bookmarks and up before, each system having a safe spot and an insta jump point. Took me 3 hours, but that allowed the corp I was in at the time, to SAFELY move ore and other goods through blockades of dozens of cruisers in deep 0.0 space without even being targetted.
That was 3 well spent hours that saved my corp of the time a LOT of ships (and time)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you're travelling in an Indy on autopilot and you consider yourself vulnerable each time you are at a gate, without insta jumps you are vulnerable 100% of the time. With insta jumps you only cut your risk in half. You'll still be at the jump in gate for 13 seconds. Any pirate that can't get in range and scramble you in 13 seconds is no pirate at all.
Insta jumps make you go from 0% chance survival in a camped system to 50% chance survival. What's wrong with that?
Two interceptors in a two-gate system could kill every indy that came through, insta jumps or not. Why complain?

??? What the hell are you saying? 13 seconds? No way, when I insta-jump I warp in, and jump right away, no delay... Where did you get that from?

I think he's referring to the time it will take an indy to go into warp when it comes out the other side of the gate.
Rather than camping a gate for incoming indys with instajumps, you camp the other side and wait for them to jump in on you. If your in a frigate you will lock them before they go to warp.
This works against most ship types except frigates and shuttles. To get those if they use instas you've to be either very lucky or use a mobile warp disruptor to catch em before they get to the gate.

Well I would imagine that it was pretty dangerous to come out of warp 2km from a celestial object. I would actually like that warping was a little bit different. You would come out of warp some random place inside some radius of the object you are warping to. There should also be a skill that would help you warp closer to that object. But that¦s totally off topic and I¦ll stop typing now. __________ Capacitor research |

Edited by: Ehxo on 20/05/2004 21:19:45 Ok, I think some aren't quite understanding how real insta-jumping works... cause it CAN'T BE STOPPED if done right.
To set the insta jump bookmark:
- In a fast ship, warp to a safe place of your choice. To make a safe spot, warp somewhere far and create a bookmark while you're halfway in the warp. Then warp back to it.
- Warp to the gate you want to make an insta-jump bookmark for, and fly until you're right above it, within 2 km's. Bookmark this spot as TEMP WARP
- Warp back to your safe spot and warp back from there to the TEMP WARP spot.
- Without turning your ship, go full throttle. Place a bookmark that you will call "InstaJump" (or whatever the f* you want to call it) exactly 15 km's PAST the Stargate.
How to use the insta-jump bookmark:
- Warp to the safe bookmark you have in this system.
- Set your destination waypoint to a system that is beyong the stargate you want to insta-jump to.
- Warp to the insta-jump bookmark and activate AUTOPILOT while you're in transit.
- As soon as you come out of warp, autopilot will auto-jump since you'll be in immediate jump range of the stargate.
THAT'S how you do it, and THAT can't be stopped. You do not have any delay of 13 seconds when you do it that way. 1-2 seconds maybe, but that's it. And that's if it's laggy

Ok for those of you pirates that really want to catch the insta-jump indys and frigates, this is a setup that will work 100% of the time. equip as many Large Smart bombs as possible. sit ontop of the gate. whe you see the ship warp in. Just hit all the smart bombs. You will not get any loot but you will get your kill. Besides what real pirate doesnt use insta-jumps themselves |

Yeeeaaahhh.... right... That may work if you can time it right, but I really doubt that this will cause enough damage to blow up a level 4 Industrial like a Mammoth in one voley for example... plus timing it right is not that easy.
How much damage does one large smartbomb do anyway and how many can you fit on a battleship?

NO, *listen to what other people are saying*. The 13 second delay is caused by aligning to warp after you enter the next system. There is NO way to improve this apart from using a more agile ship. ----------------------------------------

Nah, logging off while you're cloaked seems to produce some kind of invulnerability when you try to lock them.
Certain comrades of a certain corporations indies have been doing this ever since the cloaking feature was introduced.

Fit 1 cruiser MWD, or lots of frigate MWD's combined with some corestabs.when jumping in activate them but do not have them on autorepeat.Voila, you have now cut down those 13 seconds to 2, and if he does manage to get a lock in 2 seconds he wont be able to scramble.

VERY WRONG: If you set a route of bookmarks, you can set safe pointa that you can insta-warp to without having to align, since the jumps are gate to gate now, so you'll always be alligned the same way. The trick is to create the safe bookmark in the direction you're facing when you warp in.
I've been using these tricks since day 1 man, you're not about to tell me they don't work, I've been successfully exiting sieged stations that way because I had a good escape bookmak that didn't require me to re-align my ship.
Again, 2-3 seconds at most, so the enemy may be able to target you, but not for long enough to kill you... even with that smartbomb trick. I have yet to be caught by that anyway.

Why should I PvP in a PvP-based game in 0.0 unsecure space in a defenseless ship without escorts? Why should I Abide by the rules? What for? What rules?
Bookmarks aren't exploits, logging off isn't an exploit, do you expect ME to just sit there and die?I don't care about fleet regrouping, safespotting, gridding, warevading, blockade evading, insta-docking or insta-hauling.I don't want to PvP in your PvP based game, when will you people understand?I especially don't care about the greater good of the game!

Simple, Indys using both exploits are impossible to kill. They cant get targeted cuz of instajump. On other side they can just CLOAK LOG, Thus making them invicible.(And no u cant target them for some game mechanical means if they Hard log(end proccess the client) and they did it when cloaked.
Meaning u cant say indys are killable if they do the above.
