          Hello,
I just had to upgrade my clone again and it hit me. I'll never fly the destroyer interdictor or any T2 frigate in combat again. Why you ask?
I spend more on my clone than on any T2 frigate sized ship. They also tend to die pretty fast and so you get end up getting podded more easily. I essentially lose 2 ships at the same time when I get shot and podded.
The concept that a 55mil skillpoint player would have more money than a 15 mil SP player is flawed and the price of clones, while it has been reduced a lot already (thank you a lot!), still limits my gameplay.
I'm probably just being whiney here but I still feel that the price of clones prohibits experienced players to keep flying small ships.
Thanks for listening to my rant Red

I have to admit it does sting everytime I have to fork out 20 odd million for the joy of being podded, but compared to the cost of the implants etc its nothing.
And he ^^ is right, if your not loaded by now your doing it wrong.

I consider myself a middle aged character here and even though I'm an arkonor miner with a few billion ISK in my wallet, I'm a bit picky about pod jumping to save time even on 60+ jump trips. I agree that the price of a clone should increase with the amount of skillpoints preserved, but it shouldn't be as nearly exponential as it is. There are many people playing that could buy t2 frigates with the cost of their clones. Many more could buy a cruiser. The income a player can earn from faucets quickly plateaus in relation to skills while the chance of death in relation to skills remains the same. Poor Dr. Caymus will be shelling out ISK to cover a logistics ship in a years time. With that investment, I dont see why he'd risk flying in anything that could easily be ganked. The cost of clones should be more like 1 mil ISK per 10 mil skillpoints preserved.

I think clone costs should be doubled
People are having it too easy. People with 55+ mil sp have 100s of mils to spend on all kinds of fancy stuff. If they don't, then they aren't really playing EVE, in which case they don't need that my sp on their char.
  People should fear getting podded.

Lag and desync is enough to deal with. I think that makes up for all the costs.

We shouldn't have to buy clones and/or lose skill points.
  End of discussion.

a 3 month old char can fly a raven and earn money at least half as much as me...
If I try to pvp in a cruiser it takes me 3 missions to earn the isk while it takes that 3 month old person 1 mission.
also recently had an idea on how to help with this problem a bit (t2 pods): http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=820740

I agree with the op, im a casualy player and dont play 7 days a week, but my clones are getting really expensive.
Its not a huge issue but it is a little tedious, especially when you just want to pod jump somewhere. Right now it just is not cost effective for me to do that given my the amount of play time I have available.

Just because you have 55 million skillpoints, doesn't mean you have millions and millions of ISK laying around.
As I get more skillpoints, my e-fortune dwindles. __________________________________________________

I thought that "fly only what you can afford to loose" goes to veteran players as well. If you can't cover costs of the pod, don't fly it... stay docked... have fun with all your SP. Or you could whine on forums top gimp pod cost, it's up to you.
