Afternoon Guys,
Here are the base stats for my character
Cha 5 Int 8 Per 12 Mem 5 Wil 9
I have played for three weeks now and trained him up and have the six basic learning skills up to III (except Cha which is at I). Should I worry about the low memory on this guy for long term learning times? I'm assuming everything will balance out since this character is designed for combat and the time I save learning Gunnery abilities will balance out the time lost learning Electronics and Engineering type skills due to low memory.
Thoughts?

Your not so far out of balance that I would worry about it much. Once you get a few levels into your advanced learning skills and add a set of +3/+4 implants, you probably won't notice the difference on your memory attribute, as it is a secondary attribute for most of your support skills.

It's ok, just stay away from industry/science. Also dont go for electronic warefare and such, just get what improves your ship in combat and focus on guns/missiles and ship types

Cha 5 - the lower the better unless you really want to be a fleet booster or a trader or somesuch ; in which case, a separate alt with high charisma might be a better alternative
Int 8 - the tiniest bit above average ; always good to have, since a lot of combat support skills rely on it. A bit more wouldn't have hurt, but you're fine.
Per 12 - awesome ! no, really, I mean it, excellent. A vast majority of weapon and ship skills rely on it, and in the long run, there's a lot more skillpoints you NEED to have in weapons and ships than in most other things as a combat pilot
Mem 5 - a bit low IMHO. Not game-breaking low, since you have an average INT score, but I'd try to maximize learnings and implants on memory as a priority before others in order to make the best of it (and the sooner the better - but not at the detriment of urgently needed skills, of course)
Wil 9 - a bit above average, works nice alongside the high perception ; not particularly useful in the long run, but if (or better said WHEN) you plan to specialize in T2 ships it will come in handy
The only way it could have been better is if you could have somehow taken some wilpower points and shifted them on to memory (or, heh, even lower charisma but higher int), but overall it's pretty damned decent.

I'm also new to the game and have the base skills of:
6 8 7 8 10
Seems more balanced, better? Worse?
