Damn you.. i was just about to come here and post another 'Max' thread getting ppl all ready to flame away until they noticed that i had tricked them and it was actually a thread about this trailer.
You spoiled that for me now

I absolutely agree. Max Payne is one of my most favorite game series, and this trailer was a travesty. I think I would not have been more offended if they just cast Vin Diesel as Max and the whole movie revolved around him jet-skiing down a line of hovering Harrier jets while cross-punching (edit: National Socialist German Workers' party members) and vegetarians at the same time. Max Payne is about a balance of gritty cop drama and gunplay, but the trailer seems to have none of the former and an overabundance of the latter.
Why couldn't they cast someone actually fit for the role, in both looks and acting style? Observe:

I would like to know why they cast Ludacris (a black rapper/crappy actor who is in his 20's) to play Jim Bravura a WHITE middle aged deputy police chief. What the **** is wrong with you people?
Also, this trailer that I just saw is HORRIBLE. The plot is not even close to the plot in the game. THE GAME HAD AN AWESOME PLOT. HIS WIFE AND BABY IS KILLED AND HE GOES ON A KILLING RAMPAGE FOR REVENGE, HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE A SCRIPT LIKE THAT? This is one of my favorite games and Max Payne along with the other characters in the game have a lot of good lines in it (fantastic video game script) and now this movie will **** it up. **** you Hollywood, **** you Mark Walhberg (go back to Boston you Irish *******) and **** you Ludacris

I wasn't sure about him when he first started films big time, but since then he has proven to be a great actor. (come on, his role in Departed? no one could have done that better)

Now, it's been a while since I played it but iirc his family were slain as part of a conspiracy around a new drug, and Mona Sax was there to avenge someones death (can't remember if it was her sister though). And they were hunted by all of the above - Pretty close so far. As for the trailer, looks pretty close to how the game came across too. I'll go see it and decide whether it's crap or not afterwards.
I don't remember the bit about monsters though...

Looks bloody awful to be honest, there is no super natural element to Max Payne which I recall yet they are adding it to the story? What a joke, yet another perfectly good game to be tarnished on the silver screen.

Okay, I'll go call the FBI now. Has anyone here seen the Great Gatsby(the movie)? The script followed the book word for word, I kid you not. It was one of the worst and most boring movies that I have ever seen in my life, part of it had to do that the book sucked (Its not a American classic book you ****ing stupid readers).
What we should do is have the Max Payne movie script and plot be followed WORD FOR WORD. Why? because it has a good plot + dialogue, IT CAN'T FAIL. By the way, I would love to kick Mark Walhberg in the nuts a couple of times. That ***** deserves it.

Not seen the film and the trailer didn't load for me. However, from the description, I'd say it would be a bit like "The Punisher" with a bit of "Blade" thrown in for good measure.
