This month all ex-SWG players have had their accounts reactivated for a month.
So if you fancy giving it a try again to see whats changed go for it!

I'm personally doing vanguard right now, I would be running all 3 of my accounts on SWG, however my Vista and computer hate SWG the client stops working every time I try to launch. (Tried everything - my post is under GTS on their forums)
I <3 SWG, even after the NGE. Up until they did collections and the heroic encounters it was good - now it's all raiding.
What server do you play on? Tempest here.

After the NGE there is no way I'll go back to that abomination. Shame really as I never had more fun in PvP as I did being a BH fighting Jedi.

I will never return to anything related to sony online, I'm sorry to say but I've nothing left there. The two communities i was apart of were turned to cesspits after the first year. The game is crap now, not worth returning to if you're an oldie.
Seriously... i can't explain in words just how horrible things are there. take one glance at their forums. SWG is the Cesspit of the MMO world both in community and gameplay.

I heartily agree. WTF was that, other then a bomb tossed at the very foundation of the game 
After that I stayed just long enough to bid a fitting farewell to my menagerie. CH/Ranger/Sniper ftw

I would have thought that shit would have shut down years ago after they screwed it up royally then stopped developing it

That would explain why I was able to log onto my account a while back. I think it's funny how desperate they're getting. The majority of the SWG population will never accept the abomination that was the NGE, and the loss of probably some of the best PvP that the Pre-CU had. Now it's just one of many WoW clones. I did like the fact that when the majority of SOE's population quit after the NGE, that SOE tried to say like we weren't giving it a chance and claiming the game still was as great as it was before.
I went to Coronet, and saw 4 people when I logged on, compared to around 150 back in the day, Mos Eisley is now the supposed "Coronet" of the game now, and I saw 10 people. I don't think it's as popular as they claimed. And they really think people are going to start paying the game again by giving us a free month. There's nothing to do, so why bother. I saw people in full Mandolorian Armor, when back then, it was almost rare to see pieces of it.
At least I still have over 1,000 days on my house maintenence pool.

I would absolutely love to play SWG again...IF it was pre-NGE, pre-Jedi SWG. As it's not, there's no point.

Vanguard is really enjoyable now and has a nice little "mature" community.
like the one eve had, 4 years ago :)
i always wanted to "like" SWG but never really got into the game :(

Damn... I would love to check my old account, but I unistalled the game ages ago, and I think I trashed the discs...
Anyway, as many said, NGE was the finishing blow to an already dying game...
PVP? It had no pvp. BH vs Jedi fights could last hours, and it seemed more like bunny-jumping Counter-Strike theme than a Star Wars game... Obviously, one problem was that, incredibly, there were too many Jedis.
One good thing? It's economy, and the "Mine your mins" theme. Was hard work, but it was cool.

Im honestly surprised SOE is still around. There formula of buying out MMO's, firing all but a minimal staff to run it, and making it super easy has time and again proven fatal. Seems SOE is finally feeling the fruits of their labor.

The NGE killed the game by turning it into something that it was not. They should have just made an SWG 2 and set the NGE to that instead of completely revamping the game from the ground up.

If only i could get the trial to work.
Wanted to finaly check out what id missed on, strange thing with the sign up.
Station account created, when you go to activate sign up in the client, the browser locks up with a cannot display, nothing to see here IE error.
Vista 64, latest ie ect... had looked around, only solution i found was somebody saying to install ie7 and it works... tbh i don't fancy doing that:)
