I'm wondering if one still takes a decent security hit for PvP in low sec empire. We've lost a few ships recently to 0.4 and below gate camping and would like to stomp a few, but with security status so hard to recover now I'm curious to know if we'd take a hit.
Anyone know if so, and if so how much?

Agression: -0.5% Ship Kill: -2% Pod kill: -12.5%
This applies in 0.1 and up. If the Pirate is below -5.0 sec there is no security hit and the sentries will not protect him.

I would like it to be so, that you didnt loose sec. if you killed someone who had already killed you.

What about the gang mate issue? My understanding right now is if a pirate gang is at the gate, only the û10.0 fires on you, the others wait until you fire back and then are allowed to ôdefendö their gang mate without taking a penalty? If MY gang mates then fire back at them, what happens?

Gang amtes are alowd to protect one another. so if team A is ganking a gate ( all members of team A take secutiry hits for the aggression of 1, but at lesser dagree ) team B sends a sacrafice to the gate an get's fired at, Team B gets no sec hit for defending their sacrafice.

I dont think so, we killed yesterday more then 100 ships in lowspace, but my security status is still +0.4. I think only the one who makes first shoot get a penalty.

I have to disagree. I was ganged at a spawn in .3 space. My gangmate was attacked by a PKer and when I engaged the assailent I took a .1 sec hit, although my gangmate took no such hit for defending himself. I fear that sec ratings are flawed.

Totally incorect, gangs do not interfer with security staus or aggression uses. All a gang does is makes you faster, stroger and quicker, makes every1 purple and allows nice warping options.
