I've been pondering something. Say you're in 0.0 and you have a hulk with a tank good enough to be able to hold off 3 BS while your medium T2 drones pop them, and you chain the belt.
At the same time you are mining arkonor and i suppose you haul after you fill a can or so in case of hostiles. Is this possible?
And would it make more ISK than getting in a domi, sticking mining lasers on it and mining while you wait for a spawn, and moving from belt to belt as if you were ratting?
It seems like it would be difficult, but I want to be able to do something admirable/profitable without the use of two characters, since I only have one, and so I don't have to rely on other peoples help when say no one is on at the moment.

If you chained weaker BS's, then your drones might be able to kill them. I guess you could do this, would help to have a hauler alt (could train up in a few hours, then switch back to main).

with good skills I think you should be able to break even the bigger BS, but I'm not sure. It will take forever and then some, that part I'm sure about.
Also the shieldtankers, that tend to come with a high amount of shield hp have a higher natural regen, that can be a pita. On top of their active tanking. I think Gurista is worse than Angels in that account.
But... why haven't you just tried? Is it a matter of skills?

Skills, ISK, things of that nature. I just wanted to know some people's opinions about it if im going to spend the ISK to do it and even try it at all.

When 3 bs / 3 cruisers spawn, you'll probably need to warp.
Could be wrong though.

What used to be the "standard" fit on a hulk now costs about 350 mil, still cheaper than it used to be but the alternatives have turned out so darn cheap most don't bother with it.
The amount of skills needed is basically neglectable, no shield skills to speak of, mining isn't critical but the more the better obviously, drone skills would be a priority but then again the only skills that really matter for this scenario is Drone Interfacing V, Combat drone Spec V and whatever specialization at II to IV.
As for the possibility of doing this, I'd probably say the incomes turns out to be less than just ratting. You warp slowly, you'll have to watch spawns and be very very careful when it comes to nos and such. Be aware of ranges and at the same time stay around roids and manage your cargo. You won't get any salvage done, and little to no looting.
Personally I'd consider just staying in a single belt with your hulk(s) mining away and use this alt you speak of to pop rats and every now and then swing by and pick up the cans.
I have no doubts it can be done, but it won't be neither cost-efficient or any ultimate source of income.

It would probably require a faction tank to handle a serious 0.0 spawn. T2 mediums would probably choke on some of the spawns and not be able to get them down.

Yea, you would absolutely need the tank described in Halada's mining guide, with a deadspace booster a hardeners. And as everyone has said, you will need top notch drone skills to make this work, or try to find a triple BS spawn < 1 mil each.

Or you could save yourself millions, stick a tanked domi with some nos in the belt and mine with 4 hulks and a rorqual giving bonus's/hauling.
Personally tested this is the way to go. It isnt worth it to mine solo in 0.0, ratting will make you more isk/hour. When you have multiple people/alts, that is when the isk really begins to flow with 0.0 mining. Because unlike empire, in 0.0 you can get around 2290 m3 per laser and a 1.41 cycle time

Capital industrial V pilot deployed with mindlink and max gang bonus/ganglinks running will get you that cycle time.
