Could it be made so you cannot log if you've committed an act of aggression within 5 minutes?? It would stop people logging as soon as they realize they cannot win a battle and would work similar in a way as you cannot dock/jump within a certain timeframe if you have commited an act of aggression. I see no drawback with this, only that some people may lose their ships more :) ------------------------------------------

I'm all for it, it would mean ships stay commited to combat and the gallente drones actually have a shot at getting deployed before the other side warps out.

Absolutely not.
Because there's no way to enfore it. Somebody could just turn off their computer or unplug their connection etc. ____________________________________________ Ideas Lab - Forum Search Feature - Sign me! |

Is there a difference between loggin' and warping out? I was under impression that both did faily the same thing. If you were scrambled then even if you log out your ship will remain in action zone. If you are not scrambled - you can warp out just as easily. Have I been misled? ---------------------- I make up with stupidity for the rest of my corporation.

You're correct. However, the difference is if you disconnect your ship disappears after 2 minutes. ____________________________________________ Ideas Lab - Forum Search Feature - Sign me! |

Methinks starting the 2 minute timer after the ship has warped away from combat is a better idea.
If the ship cant warp then it should log off untill it goes boom or can warp away. ---------------------------

Nah, it is simply not reasonable for situations where the connection dies honestly. For example, the player's ISP dies, the server kicks them, the power goes out etc etc. ____________________________________________ Ideas Lab - Forum Search Feature - Sign me! |

tadius is correct . though i really hate that hes right . there is nothing worse than the coward who logs out because he finds his self outnumbered after a bout of lawbreaking .
we have all been there . friend gets ganked in his indy . you go chase the lawbreaker . he gets outnumbered . found and then he just clicks <quit> ack i hate those cowards worse than honest gate campers

To be honest, I much preferred the old system, wherby if you disconnected for ANY reason then the amount of time before your ship cloaked or was removed from space came in two flavours:
1) If you were not currently involved in act of aggression (i.e. you were not firing on anyone), and had not been for the last minute, then the ship would cloak/disappear after 1 minute 2) If you were involved in actively fighting when connection was lost, the time to removal was 5 minutes.
This way, if someone logged in combat to try and escape, their ship was still stuck there for a short while, giving you chance to righteously pound on them. Of course, the key bug that is exploited time and again still hasn't been fixed - that of logging an alt on...as soon as you do this, the other character is removed from the universe, instantly. Until that's fixed, any method designed to block people from trying to escape death by quitting is doomed to failure.

I think many of your are forgetting that there are still SEVERAL players who connect via dial-up. Granted, nobody wants their prey to get away simply by disconnecting from the server, but no player wants to lose his/her ship simply because their dial-up connection got interrupted (or perhaps a node suddenly drops from an unforseen hardware upgrade complication).
Sure, everyone wants to penalize those who abuse the system, but those same suggestions very rarely consider what it does to those who are not abusing the system. Refer to the ancient proverb, be careful what you wish for.
