Preferred RPG or space RTS. Balanced and wellmade. A good FPS with wellmade story is ok aswell.
Games i've played that you can remove from your list.
Mass Effect. Max Payne. The Witcher. CoD4. Icewind Dale-II. NWN 1-2. Sins of Solar Empire (Crap game btw). Baldurs Gate 1-2. Homeworld 1-2. Hellgate (suxx)
I'm really really tired of crappy, unbalanced, unfinished, sloppy games.

The three Fallout games. Yeah, I want to see the president at Enclave shot in half again
Also: Bioshock, Jade Empire, KOTOR1/2, NWN2 Mask of the Betrayer, Perry Rhodan and perhaps Lost Odyssey on BOX360.
Btw Biohazard (Resident Evil) for PC is awesome!

Planescape: Torment, obviously.
NWN2 MOTB is not bad either, as mentioned already. Definitely better than the OC.
I'd say Arcanum if you didn't say "unfinished, sloppy games", but it should be enjoyable even then if you (community-) patch it. Well, give it a try, anyway. Not like Troika isn't out of business and won't see money for it any more anyway, so feel free to "acquire" a copy. Speaking of Troika, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is fine too, if you patch it (big if).

Try Prey for a 3D action adventure. Only really well done game I've seen in a while (does not pretend to be non-linear like Mass Effect and doesn't have stupid bugs). Try Dark Messiah of Might and Magic as well if you haven't yet. Both of these are only good for 10-12 hours with 0 replayability though (still better than a couple of DVDs).
I'm waiting for Sacred 2, I hope it's as much fun as the first part.
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

+1 for half life 2. Portal
Audiosurf? lol
Threadspace hyperbol is a rather fun new look at things (available on steam, like the rest of the ones ive suggested so far). One lump sum for unlimited play time, but its required internet play...

If you haven't played Fallout 1 and 2 you are seriously missing out. How ever given the age of the games its hard to get "in" to them as they are quite datede. Still my 2 favorite games to this day, Hoping FO3 is as good as ive been wishing it would be since i was like 14

Because after playing 1 Skirmish for 2 days and ending up with the AI spamming 100+ frigates against me, and nothing to effectivly counter frigates, i decided it was a crap game with shitty balance.

RTS - Supreme Commander, very good balance with 3 factions, 4 if you have the expansion. TBS - Civilization 4, no real balance issues, very challenging on higher difficulties TBS - Galactic Civilization 2, great game
Really, I only play so much so I've got so little to recomend. =\ - - - Aloriana Jacques - Skill Sheet

ITT "games I like"
I add a second for Haegemonia, but also feel compelled to recommend two of those games that no one bought or heard of, yet are just as good (if not better) than mainstream gems like Half Life 2:
Sacrifice Nexus: The Jupiter Incident -omg-

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is lukewarm vomit. They managed to take an awesome idea (Source Engine physics + magic) and turn it into a bucket full of rancid pooh. I take it's release as a personal insult and hope all the developers wind up developing advergames for Preparation-H's website forever ****ing more ("SHOOT HEMARHOID TO SCORE POINTS!").
Quake 4 Doom 3 Prey
Are good sci fi FPS games.
F.E.A.R. and the first expansion pack are good clean fun. The first one especially has a decent storyline and the AI are amusing.
SWAT4 is awesome. I recently dug it out and it's better than I remember (or maybe playing Vegas 2 makes it seem better). Given that you suggest RTS games I think you'd like tactical shooters and SWAT4 is one of the best. The real draw of it for me is the way the setting has lead them to model psychology for the enemies. They respond to intimidation and surprise which other series of games never bother with. SWAT3 was also brilliant. It's hard to choose between them.
H&D2 is also worth picking up while you're in the bargain bin. That's this super detailed squad based tactical shooter set during WW2. It's like the sandbox version of CoD.
The Conflict series are the same kind of thing but much more brainless (I recommend the last two in the series, Global and Denied).
No-One Lives Forever is a great couple of games.
Planescape Torment is one of the few CRPGs I can stand. The storyline, setting and gameplay are actually interesting and manage to progress beyond the usual stereotyped subtolkein gibberish. EVE RELATED CONTENT |

Edited by: Technomagez on 13/07/2008 21:36:05 Edited by: Technomagez on 13/07/2008 21:32:16 I was going to recommend Sins of a Solar Empire but then i saw that you wrote that it was crap... Hah, what the hell is wrong with you? SoaSE is like the best game ever...
Go for Sacred or Dungeon Siege, maybe Gothic 1, 2 or 3 You could also try Morrowind or Oblivion. Morrowind is the better one.
Oh, well, forgot Technomage of course, which is a great game aswell. Silver kicks ass too and Septera Core does also.
And adding up on the two guys before me... Deus Ex is actually my favorite game every. Well, System Shock 1&2 are as good as Deus Ex. Swat 2, 3 and 4 are nice aswell, although two is more of a tactics game just like Commandos, Desperados or Robin Hood.
Supreme Commander and the Civilisation series are great too. Also Fable is pretty interesting.

dawn of war
not a fantastic game, but the graphics are top of the line! watching the tracers fly across the screen, seeing orks getting tossed around the battlefield by the dreadnoughts, seeing your tactical flame throwers breaking the morale of the enemy and then your heavy bolters decimate them as they flee in fear is just fun 8)
dawn of war 2 comes out soon!

F.E.A.R. is pretty good, good AI with some great voice acting. The graphics are not so great but the physics are top notch. Also another 1+ for Bioshock as its one of the best games around and really replayble with the variety of special abilities.
