Edited by: Darkeen on 14/07/2008 03:58:56 HI All,
I'm a relative noob (more like apprentice now but WTF do I know..) and I've been looking at all these "please nerf nano's' threads and was wondering one thing about the "Great Nano Deabte" (and pleae I'm not trying to Troll, but I know some of you will take it as a chance to whine....)
People get skills and items and ships becuase they liked the damage, ROF, kills, etc that they could do in their ships... Now along comes a new game element and they arent the 'best' any more...
So rather than going out and buying/training in extra skills, items and nano'ing their own ships (ie progress/change) they are whining about it and asking CCP to change the rules back to "the Good Ole Days"?
Is this about right or have I missed something? (And please all posts about "oh but these ships xyz were SOOO good before!" will be ignored like the trolls they are....)
Thanks.
Regards,
Jason Brisbane

Edited by: DubanFP on 14/07/2008 04:03:24 You forgot the fact that there are good counters to the expensive and highly specialized nanos already. You just actually have to go out and look for those setups rather then sitting around in a once vanilla PVE ship modified with a warp scram and web. _______________

1) You admit that you are a noob yet you feel qualified to tell people who have been playing for years that they are just "whining" and decided to be generous and spill out your wealth of knowledge to us all on these forums. Gee, where have you been all these months when we needed your wisdom the most? You just solved the whole issue...thanks.
2) People complaining aren't complaining because they aren't "the best anymore." I could go over the reasons but there are already 1000 other threads which explains people's views. Maybe you should read those.
3) Nanos aren't really a new game element. Speed setups have been around for quite awhile now.
4) Yes everyone should nano all of their ships to counter. Brilliant idea! So instead of regular blobs, we will have nano blobs. Not to mention this makes all other ship setups obsolete. Yes, everyone should adapt and fly speed setups. Hello vanilla.

I will say this once and only once.
Antisupport zealot (or hell, even regular fit zealot, nano, conventional tank, whatever) ****es all over nanoships with heavy pulse laser II + Scorch M.
Just try it.
Or go full out antisupport with 3x TE, 2x optimal rigs, and then marvel as nanoships start MWDing away from you when they start taking damage at 20kms away... then keep hitting them absolutely perfectly up to 60km away.
Get a guy in your gang to keep you repped and with cap and you're all set and can freely BBQ everything within 60km and nuke a nanoship every 30-40 seconds (400-500 dps with Scorch, will tear through everything except t2 minnie like butter, and even then those won't last too long either). __________________________________

Whew, you had me worried there. But I knows that 4 times 15 is 60 and there aint no way that I am gonna come within 60k of anything.

You mean the one that I am killing first, cause I aint no noob.
Look mate, we know that it is possible to kill nanoboaties. But is it balanced that you, by your own admission, need at least two other boaties to kill one nanoboatie?

Edited by: Darkeen on 14/07/2008 06:22:11 Thanks to all. (Especial thanks to those who think that my question was a statement of fact.)
So am I right in thinking that even with a modd'ed set up that ships with the same in Nano tech will always outgun and outclass the equivalent and bigger ships every time? At what level does it become even? A Nano frigate versus a BS? Nano frigate versus titan w/doomsday weapon?
Has someone done any tests in 0.0 sec with the setups to find out how unbalanced it is? Does a nano setup make it possible for noobs to outgun a more experienced player? (assuming all tests were done 1 on 1).
(Forgive me for making such enquiries but going through the thousands of posts and tryig to figure out what is a troll, what is a question and what is a whine is so very difficult that I couldnt follow the very lengthy posts.)

Nano setups dont make you outgun anyone, don't be silly. They allow you to evade 99% damage and not get caught. They give you the rare privilege of choosing fights and disengaging. BS weapons other than heavy neuts will never scratch you. 99.99% of missiles wont damage you, and most medium gun ships dont have range or tracking, or even if they do they simply become primaries for nano gang and die first.
Sure some ships can do reasonably well, like before mentioned Zealot, and I suppose remote tanked some Caldari sniper cruiser or hac might get some hits on a nanohac.

Newbies who don't know the game bringing up long-discussed issues without even understanding much about the issue itself and creating new topics just so they can get people to chime in on it all over again are worse than nanos.

Posting in a nano thread.
In case the OP is genuine, the problem isn't that they have a better ship, it's that they have a ship which is free to run away unless you bring a specific counter. -
