Edited by: Pete X on 14/07/2008 19:46:43 right a couple of weeks ago my laptop died ( oh noes ) it crashed while i was playing eve and would lag so badly ( it normally not having any issues with system lagg ) after i re-booted so i did what i thought was needed ...... re-boot oo look it's the blue screen of death *runs* so i took the next step needed boot into safe mode... /me boots into safe mode. i watch as the drivers load up and it stops at the .mup file ( i.e C:/@user@/windows/system32/drivers/.mup or some sh!t )
After i did some digging on tinterweb ( internet ) i found out that it may not be the .MUP fle but the 1 after it ( seeing as it does not come up on screen i can't tell you what it is)
basically im getting total system failure with everything i try. I've yet to try re-installing windows as i have misplaced my OS disk and can't be bothered to go buy a new 1.
But i do have a 180Gb external hardrive that is installed on the laptop and i can get into the multi boot menu to choose to boot from it.. so if i were to install windows onto the hardrive from another computer and then boot from the hardrive would that be viable or am i thinking of stupid things.... also any other ideas please let me know as every thing else i have tried has failed =(
P.S i don't using a P2P program to download a version on windows either but keep that on the hush hush
BIG thanks to anyone who helps me

thats an old issue to be getting.
i believe it had to deal with the video card drivers / broken registry junk.
try using the command line device manager (devcon i think its called) in safe mode to get rid of whatever you just screwed up.

Since you obviously have internet access.. Try looking around for a leaked copy, an ISO really of the restore disk for your laptop. Then burn, drop in, enjoy.
Post up more specific info and your that much more likely to find it!
If your committed to a new system, evemail me, Il give you an address you can ship that poor broken hulk to. um.. to protect the environment.
