Hey
I have a question about putting up a large control tower.
Anchoring time is 1800sec = 30 minutes
Onlining time is also 1800sec = 30mins
So my question is.
Can i anchor the tower 30-35minutes before downtime, ad fuel when it is anchored and start the onlining process and it will keep going during downtime so when server is up again, tower will be up and running?
this gives ppl only 30min chance to steal my tower instead of 1hour.
does this work?

they cant steal the tower, they can only shoot it.
but yes, should work this way, but not 100% sure.

Once you click anchor they cant steal it so the only window of oppertunity they have is the time from when you launch it from your cargo bay to the time you click anchor, no more than 5 seconds.

ok steal or not is not very important
destroy they will, so lets leave that.
will i be able to use the DT to avoid having to wait 1hour in space and instead just 30mins (+/-). And thereby have a smaller chance of someone finding a tower with no shield to destroy quick?

yes if you start anchoring before DT then it will be 'safe' while DT is happening and the timer still counts

The tower will still have ALL of it's shield hitpoints, even before it is onlined.

Last time I put up a POS, the station was not targatable until after it had been finished anchoring. (Thus they can't destroy it) However you can't put fuel in it until after it finished anchoring. Intersting enough 1 hr of fuel fits peferectly in 2 ibis :). One last thing there is nothing to stop them from picking off the turrets one by one as you anchor them. The shield will be at 50% (when you put fuel in the tower) and charges at about 2-3% per hour. So yes plan for the onlining process during DT. |
