For long I hate one fact about the overview.
If you try to ctrl+click target something (or click a target in general), one might hit a wrong target. Be it due to distance changes of targets or more warping in/out.
One very simple solution (and what I consider good UI design) would be:
- Do not change the positions of targets in the overview WHILE mouseover.
Just fill the positions with targets that left with a blank and add new targets to the bottom of the list. If sorted by range, the distance should be updated and sorted when the mouse is not over the overview anymore.

Uh, no, i think the op meant no movement on the overview at all, when the mouse is on overview.

This actually works on the normal view, if you hover over a group of brackets. They will be shown in a "list" and not move, until you move your mouse out of the area.
Even a shortcut to freeze the overview for a while would be nice.

Maybe freeze the OV once CTRL is held down. Possibly in combination with a slight increase in brightness.

this is due to a crappily made UI.
you can thank CCP by stopping payment for your game until it is fixed.
seriously, the overview is so buggy its constantly Fing up, I dont think anyone uses it for anything but (maybe) transversal, thats if the server the grid is on isnt lagging so bad that all transv. are marked 0..
its 7 years overdue for a fix.

@Ekrid: stop playing Eve is not a solution to a problem :-)
If I see something wrong, I will state it. Maybe it get's attention and will reach the CCP UI designers. Eventually it will be fixed then. The first I can do. The second the community must do. The last is CCP's part :P
@Thyphado3: if everything but the current would still change positions, you still would have troubles selecting another one - just because they don't stand still. But indeed, alone this would help alot - it would definatly avoid mistargeting (but not making targeting more comfortable). But if a change can be done, I'd prefer an all in solution.
Btw:
The reason this was triggered off by me (as stated I hate it for a long time, but never thought this of a very important thing), was when I had wartargets and blinking reds and non-blinking reds on overview. Tho I was very careful what to target, ofc I did end up with scrambling a non-blinking target.
