Here's the deal, I downloaded the premium client from the Eve site, while at work. I burned it to a DVD and brought it home. I installed in on my machine with XP with no problem. I'm in and playing the game.
I gave the disc to my buddy who wants to start a trial. He has Vista and when he tries to run the excutable it tells him its currupt. I had him try to move it to the hard drive from the disc and it said that it couldn't it was currupt.
Last night he started the download from the Eve site and when he tried to run it, it went through the checking integrity check, got to 100% and and just didn't do anything else.
Is there anything wonky about Vista I should know before I go to his house and screw with it?

There shouldn't be anything Vista itself that causes this.
Is your friend logged in as an Administrator (regarding the later issue when EVE isn't installing)?
Has he done a chkdsk/f on all partitions to eliminate any filesystem error causing this?

You say you burned to a DVD but not what type.
There can be compatibility issues between different disks (+R, -R, -RW etc) and different manufacturer's drives (laser geometry being slightly different which would not affect reading a pre-recorded disk or one written in the same drive but would affect a disk written on another machine).

I have the exact same issues. I have Vista64. I had the premium client installed before but had to replace hardware so I had to reinstall vista about 4 weeks ago. Now, I cant install Eve. I have tried everything from Classic Client to premium client and even older versions I get an error every time. NCIS error or something like that, corrupt files. I even had a friend copy the client to disk and I still cant install it. I have tried the workarounds listed on the Eve Client pages but nothing:(
Please help, thanks in advance!! :)

Have you run a chkdsk/f on all your drives and are you logged in as an Administrator?

I guess this is solved. It was a matter of him being impatient. He let it sit through the integrity test and actually decided to wait a little while and it then decided to continue the installation.
As far as the disc goes that i burned, it was a DVD-R and it still doesn't work on his machine. We did get the download to work so I guess it really doesn't matter at this point.
Thanks guys for your responses.

DVD-r are very rarely readable by other drives other than the one that wrote them try to use dvd+r for better compatibility.

Thanks for Help
I ran the check disk utility and saved the client on a non raid configured drive. It installed first time and works fine, thanks again :)
