Thought it might be interesting to hear what goals/objectives other newer players are working on. It's pretty easy to get into a rut of agent mission running and forget about other things to do.
Here's what I'm working on: -Preparing for solo Level 4 missions (training for Large Art'y for a BS) -Working on Invention (running security and distribution missions with Boundless Creation, to get access to better Boundless Creation Research agents (and more datacores per day)) -Considering trying a Pirate Epic Arc |

EDIT: - If CCP turns EVE Online into Free2Play Pay2Win - blow up a DED battleship, leave sour post on Forum and quit playing the game.

I'll tell you from experience, pirate epic arcs are quite fun. I did the Guristas one a while ago and enjoyed it a lot, it's a nice break from the usual.
And, as for my goals, it changes week-to-week :p |

I'm playing EVE "properly" for half a year now and because I'm still a newbie puppy, I'll tell you my goals as well!
I'm preparing my skills to be able fly battleship Vindicator as for L4 and Epic Arc missions. I think having tougher HP and higher DPS output will help me finish my missions quicker.
My second goal is to find one day a lovely C1-2 wormhole and settle down there for a while. Probably with friends. We would start there some heavy PI. But I need more planning (and skills) for such a operation.
I'm also about to start something with my mining. I would like to have a Hulk as my second "ultimate" ship, one day. Then I would probably start making new ships But that is in far future.
And finally my last goal, in even more farther future, would be to skill myself for hauling, because I would love to haul But general public courier contracts are terrible so I would have to join Little Red Frogies to actually make my freighter profitable. |

Well, I'm not really a new player.
I created my character to be a Combat Engineer doing Exploration, Invention and T2 Production. I've probably trained about 2/3rds to 3/4's of the required skills needed.
One of my early goals was to complete missions for all Event Agents active in this game. Currently I only have 15 Empire Cosmos agents left and all of the Pirate Cosmos Agents (about another 15 agents) left to complete. The last Event Agents I'll complete will be the ones offering the Faction Ship BPC's since they require very high positive standings to access. |

My goal is to have fun while not taking it too serious, and to avoid grinding. inda broad but this is a sandbox MMO, limiting myself to single/specific things would be silly. Honest truth is that I've done most things in EVE and then things I still haven't done don't interested me so I generally just do a bit of "whatever" :P Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

It's a little sad to see that out of 6 only one sees human interaction as a goal in a MMO.
Let's improve that ratio a little:
I want to touch the hearts of a thousand players. (Can't tell you how or it would not work.)
The game has a tutorial that gives you a mining laser and a railgun and tells you to go shoot rocks and red crosses. It teaches you nothing else. It's been that way for 8 years, so are you really surprised that there are people who aren't aware that this is a pvp game? --Jafit McJafitson |

Other than:
- Try everything in EVE - See the Titan in action - Live in nullsec
So, out of the seven things he posted that he wants to do, four of them will almost certainly involve human interaction, even though they don't explicitly require it.
They're all decent goals. Not all of them are on my bucket list (especially FCing, which seems like it would be akin to trying to herd cats to me and holds little appeal, in large-scale fleets atleast), but they're all perfectly reasonable and interesting goals that will last you a while. |

Ok, fair enough. Let me rephrase then:
It's a little sad to see that out of 6 only one requires human interaction and as such could not be done in a single player game.
(Little note: There is a Titan in highsec.)

Not much of a new player anymore, but I can tell you what my goals were two years ago:
- Kill a T2 ship in a T1-fit Rifter. (Complete)
- Get better at 0.0 PvE so I can actually afford shinier ships. (Complete, sort of)
- Participate in a 1000-man fleet battle. (Complete; died in a fire)
- Train to competently fly every single frigate with T2 equipment. (Complete)
- Make a name for myself as a frigate/small gang PvPer. (Still working on it)
Ed: And current goals:
- Make a name for myself as a frigate/small gang PvPer.
- Grow my corp into a respectable entity.
- Kill a capital ship using frigates/cruisers only.
- Become a better FC and CEO.
- Train to competently fly every single cruiser with T2 equipment.
Rifterlings - Small gang lowsec combat corp specializing in frigates and cruisers (all races, not just Rifters!). US Timezone veterans and newbies alike are welcome to join. Come chat in the "we fly rifters" in-game channel. Free fitted frigates for members! |

gfldex wrote:It's a little sad to see that out of 6 only one requires human interaction and as such could not be done in a single player game. Uhm... Player interaction is the only thing I'm playing EVE for. Even when doing PvE I always try to fly with others. I'm helping my corpmates with missions and exploration, even today I was mining on gravimetric site with a rookie (and I hate mining). If I want to play singleplayer space game, I have X3 series for that and upcoming X-Rebirth will probably kick ass. Let's be honest, PvE content in EVE is poor...ish and if you eliminate player interaction from EVE equation, you are left with boring, repetitive tasks in the same, boring scenarios. It's really hard to not interact with other players in EVE. Whatever you do, it's always with or against somebody. EVE should be called MMOI (Massive Multiplayer Online Interaction) to emphasize that.

Goal? I don't set goals, I bought several skillbooks and I need to meet the prereqs for these, then train them. Meanwhile, I merely hope I'll have a lot of fun with good bunch of nutcases, fleeting in missions or w-space.
The major goal I'll avoid is nullseks. If in doubt... PANIC! Support Two Step for CSM! |

My main was quite indecisive in the beginning (back in 2008). I chased all sorts of goals which was like chasing butterflies. I could do a little of everything adequately but not great.
Now my main has buckled down and made a very clear goal. To train to fly all non capital ships of all races and techs along with their respective tech one and two weapons. I'm getting close to reaching this goal now. I can fly almost all non capital ships and their T2 weapons except for T2 battleships, T2 battleship size weapons, most T2 industrial ships, and the gallente T3 ship the Proteus.
As a player, my main goal is to try out every aspect of EvEs gameplay. So far I've done: Ninja salvaging Mining Mission running 0.0 carebear'ing 0.0 PvP Piracy Exploration Trading Manufacturing Highsec wardec griefing Planetary Interaction Suicide ganking Tooling around on SISI Scamming Ratting WH PvP hunting WH dwelling
So far from all that I've really enjoyed living in a wormhole and have plans to go back. |

Anybody have this goal: Create a corp, build it into an juggernaut of fun and efficiency, and move it into null sec? Then do sovereignty wars and conquer at least a little corner of the galaxy? Too impossible for a corp starting from scratch? I.e. no chance at all vs. the status quo of the current big alliances? |

Most of the corps that hold space now did not exist 3 years ago. So I would say it is very well possible but you will need at least the same time.

It's possible, but not a goal you should be publicly working for, or you may be creating obstacles for yourself. Especially if you plan to dive into 0.0, the term "need to know basis" is an important one concerning how you tell your members about higher level stuff going on. Not impossible by any means. On a day-to-day basis sure the influence map may look static enough, but take a longer view and you'll see many 0.0 empires have come and gone over the years, and two of the big alliances (the Goons and TEST) started as a rabble of noobs from an out-of-game community and just went and did it without bothering to train much of anything first on their characters. But you'll need a few thousand friends and an iron will to make it happen.
Personally, I'm perfectly happy in NPC nullsec and have zero interest in sov wars (aside from how many stragglers I can pick off ). Right now I'm finishing up training both large projectile specialization skills so I can fly a Tornado decently, then Recons V so my alliance will stop bitching about it, then maybe black ops or something. We roadtrip a lot these days so I'm probably going to train my alt for a carrier as well, he already flies a jump freighter but moving assembled ships around in a JF costs a fortune, the range is limited, I'd have to train up a second set of cyno alts if I trained caps on my main, and a carrier is much better for it. I just finished training scrapmetal processing. My plan was to start running missions for Core Complexion to get access to R&D agents. But I've put that on hold until we get more information about the changes coming to research points involving faction warfare.
I think I'll finish up some Int/Mem skills then start training for a Prowler.

My most recent goals are to start earning money faster (am doing this! go me! ) and to get myself a Legion. My long-term goals are to train well for almost every ship in a short amount of time (say, 3 years) which I'm doing pretty well at so far, though it comes with a lot of sacrifice; and to become a notable figure in EVE. I want people to recognize me by name and count on me as someone they can trust.
