Edited by: Nicholas DW on 17/07/2008 06:43:45 In order to jump a ship with a jump drive (carrier, dreadnought, jump freighter, black ops... etc.) first you must form a gang with your jump freighter pilot and the cyno ship pilot. Once ready to jump the freighter it's best to have the cyno ship pilot at a good station, i.e., one that has a large docking radius, and one that doesn't launch an undocking ship outside of dock range at undock -OR- OUTSIDE the bubble of a friendly POS (make sure both pilots are friendly to the POS.)
The target system, that is to say the one you are jumping to, should be fairly quiet or friendly controlled and you want the cyno ship to activate the cyno within docking range but not so close to the station that the inbound ship would bounce off said station -OR- OUTSIDE the friendly POS bubble far enough off of the bubble and any structures so that the incoming pilot doesn't bounce of the bubble.
Good positions for cyno fields are ones where the incoming ship will not bounce off the station nor be in a position where it could easily be bumped off the station (i.e., undocks.) The top of a large some what flat station works well.
Ships that are good for opening cyno fields are normally cheap disposable ships that have enough cargo space for the Liquid Ozone (what you need to light the cyno field) and enough CPU to fit the cyno field generator. T1 haulers, some frigates (the Kestrel and the Probe come to mind) or even t1 destroyers (they have lots of cargo room, they are cheap and each one can fit a cyno gen.) If you are in friendly or quiet space force recons are the best (half duration, less fuel) cyno ships in game, but they are expensive for a ship that can't move for 10 (five minutes in the case of force recons.)
To jump you have to be within jump range of the system you are jumping to and have enough fuel (Isotopes, each race uses a different type, Gallente use Oxygen Isotopes, Caldari use Nitrogen Isotopes... etc.) for the range of the jump that you are taking.
This is a very good tool for finding routes and fuel calculations:

I hope this helps.
