WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON?!?! Why is this COMPLETELY un-necessary change being added in? I mean, what the hell? In my hauler I rely (spelling?) on MWD (the 1mn kind) to get it anywhere at a decent speed. And now you're going to make it so that intead of being able to get to 800 m/s for a FEW SECONDS before my cap goes dry, I'm barely going to make it past 200m/s. If you're worried about frigates and the like going 30,000km/sec just nerf multiple instances of MWD. This is truely ****** up, and completely un-necessary

*feels rather sheepish* I missed the bit where it says 'cap usage reduced as well' ooops. Thats good work! Means it's gonna be easier to break speed limits in my ohmygoditsfast megathron setup.

I still don't see a reason to change this. The 10 seecond duration is just fine IMO. -------------------------

With the way its going to affect your signature radius, you wont always want a full 10 second burst.

Uh. Now: 568 cap every 10 seconds, 2 bursts = 1136 cap to travel X km Later: 227.2 cap every 4 seconds, 5 bursts = 1136 cap to travel X km

ok. i haven't been able to get on chaos for a while so i guessed that they didn't change the cap usage. my bad for guessing. -------------------------------------------

Edited by: Carmen Priano on 24/05/2004 17:26:53 A -lot- of people's bad for guessing. :/ A fair number of the changes people are complaining about make perfect sense in the larger context -- but they see "X value changed to Y smaller value for testing; will go in next patch, subject to change" and go "OMGWTF!!!11 CCP = EA. EVE is gonna die!"
edit: of course, that's the worse case -- there are also some folk who are legitimately concerned but simply don't have all the information available to them, and so agree with the more knee-jerk responses...

Right now. It takes two bursts to reach a Jumpgate in a Megathron/Apoc/ect.. And to counter the cap usage for long trips it takes like 6 Capacitor Power Relays.
That's all I know.

Hmm, I only use 3 when I travel, with 1 100MN/Quad LiF MWD and 1 LiF AB. If I don't have instajumps that is. Never run out of cap.
Since chaos is pretty much borked all info here might not be correct, but since the threadstarter said they reduced cap usage too I hope it was reduced in line with the activation time. A FURTHER nerf for MWDs would simply be too much now. Grr.

Hmm.. You only need two bursts with a Quad LiF..
Yeah. If you stop after two bursts. You will notice your speed is still increasing by the time you jump.
How many Power Relays do you use to travel for 20 jumps? |

So now it will take only 4 sec to warp with any ship if it fitted with MWD ??
One burst and when it deactivate the ship will instawarp ?

that's not good. battleships being able to get into warp in 4 seconds is bad.

No way you can do it in four seconds. But if you have the MWD on autorepeat, you might able to do it in 8 seconds. You have to engage warp after activating the MWD, and you still have to be fairly aligned with your destination. So 4 seconds wouldn't be enough to accomplish all that. You probably wouldn't even be able to activate warp before the four seconds were up. And even if you could, your ship wouldn't align enough in 4 seconds.
Anyways. I can see that soon another TRICK will be washed from EVE, making the game even more bland and even less dependant on a players real skills.
And if a MWDs ability to assist with turning gets removed. Then CCP will have finally proven their ability to suck big time.

yeah.. in a frigate.
if your aligned with your destination, a battleship will warp in 4 seconds without a MWD. It's based on alignment still. There is not really an "insta-warp".. It's just with a 10 second burst, you still have plenty of time to align before the MWD deactivates.
So no.. Unless CCP screwed something up, a battleship can only warp in 4 seconds if it's already fairly aligned. Not to mention that in 4 seconds you probably don't even have enough speed increase to pass the 75% default speed. So you would probably have to leave it running for the 8 seconds anyways.
If not 12.. which is even more than 10..

im not sure if you can atually warp in 4 seconds with a mwd on a battleship but i do think so. if you use a mwd 1 burst on a battleship it takes like 2-3 seconds to actually align, the rest of the time the ship is just increasing its speed. and after 10seconds your traveling like 300m/s. I f you was running the mwd on autorepeat it woudlent let you warp faster because you woudl still have to speed up to 80% of your max speed, but as soon as the mwd turns off you go from travbling at 50% speed to 500% speed, basically means you warp away when the mwd turns off cus then your reach the speed nesesary to warp.
if ccp finds a way to prevent this kinda supoer fast warp away, i think the changes are good, espesially for megathrons, but not 'that' good that its something thats needed or nethign imo.

Well whatever the final result is. If they remove the 2 second warp entrance bonus payoff with a MWD. (Yeah.. about 2 seconds faster you can enter warp from decloaking. Big deal.) They will just be taking away one of the many cool reasons for equipping one. Pirates still wont catch me. No matter what they do. But I think they should consider that there's nothing wrong with a module like a MWD assisting in things like turning or entering warp.
I mean think about it.. Right now they call it the "insta-warp".. I'm probably the first to do it. But there is nothing "insta" about it. The MWD deactivates after 10 seconds, and then you instantly go into warp after that. But that's ten seconds. Without a MWD it takes about 11 to 12 seconds to enter warp. It's not really that big a payoff.
Now 4 seconds may be a little overkill. But I just don't want CCP to screw it up more than they have to.
Maybe they can do it like kicking the ball on a console football video game. There's a little gage that goes up once and back down again. And you will hit the ball better if you press a button at the right time while the gage goes up, and if you press the button again at the right time while it goes down. Maybe they can incorporate something like this to determine how fast you can warp.

What's the problem with 'Insta-warp' using MWD ? Is it that you then don't have enough time to target the ship then scramble it ?
But.. wait... a ship using MWD have a sig radius vastly increased... Doesn't that mean that you are able to target the ship faster ?

I went to chaos yesterday but the change isnt there yet and i still dont see the source of this information
Anyway..
The big thing about it is that a BS that is supposed to be slower to get into warp will be as fast as a cruiser to warp when both are using a MWD
And no i think i will have time to warp scramble it anyway but there is still not a right thing imo
CCP changed so that you had to be at ~80% of your top speed before you warp so that BS couldnt warp as fast as a frigate when standing in the right direction
Now think of it
If someone is prepered on running... As a pirate at a gate knowing someone that he has to flee from warping in he point his ship toward the direction of his safe spot and when seeing the hunters on scanner he activa the MWD and are in warp in 4 sec.... And while doing that his is still standing at the gate ready to kill whoever jumps in before the hunters
Today you have to be in speed todo the same thing and then will you loose the ability of doing your duty at the same time because you will go to far from the gate
