Plz implement an option to stop the text animation when openening the character sheet. Its a waste of time.
And more important: stop that zoom-animation when opening the starmap.
It looks fancy the first time, but after that its just annoying.
Or is there already an option to stop this, which i didn't find yet?

As there is for the opening scene. IIRC, When you log on, there is a checkbox that controls the opening animation.

The funny thing is the map zoom was introduced as a big feature whenever it was patched in. CCP was all like "ZOMG GUYZ MOVING MAP SOO COOL" except i prefer the old map...the stars and paths were brighter and easier to see.

In the upper-right corner of the character sheet, there's a "collapse" control that will hide the text.
I agree about the map zoom, though. I've long since set it back to the instantaneous transition.

I think it's less about hiding it, but rather about not having to wait to see information such as if your clone is up to date or not.

Exactly thats the issue. If you want some quick information you have to wait or keep the window opened... not very user-friendly.

Character sheet typing itself = the stupidest 80's influenced lame computer-whizz movie idea ever.
Seriously, there's no end to how annoyed I am every time I want to see some character info. I just tab out and check EVEMon rather than use EVE's own interface, and that's a massive failure on CCPs side.

Pro-tip: right after opening the character sheet, double click the collapse button to get the text to show up fast. Still annoying, but atleast faster.

Agree fully, even when set to instant it's still not instant and the jumps lines are more difficult to see. Also, PLEASE disable the "scrolling" info on the character sheet, it's annoying.

Tip: Don't load all factions at once?
But the occupancy map takes too long for fast-paced frigate operations inside enemy territory, so . . .

While not a proper solution to the problem (which would be CCP adding an option to stop the scrolling text), there is a workaround. When you pop up your character sheet and the animation begins, you can collapse the text (using the button labeled, ironically, "Collapse), then hit it again to immediately expand it. The text then renders in full right away.
Likewise, if you keep the text collapsed when you close your character sheet, then bring it up, if you hit expand it's immediately there as well. Might save you a bit of time.

Don't know about you, but my time is too valuable to be spent uselessly while watching a boring animation that I neither want nor need, especially since it doesn't even serve a purpose.
Besides, it adds up if you use the map a lot. -------------------------------------------------- I'm a rich person. How I know? I can afford to be a miner. |

This would probably be a pretty quick thing for them to remove in a future patch. And the fact that it's totally inconsistent with any other window in EVE, well.. yeah, why not.

OR, lets do it the other way and make ALL windows in EVE behave this way. Lets see if these "can't wait a few seconds?"-fachists won't be annoyed. Like, say 30 secs of self-writing text for all show info dialogues. Waiting 30 secs to see a full sentence unravel in the chat window. Etc.

The issue is not even one of waiting, for me. I could care less about it taking a second for that information to come up because I'm usually doing a half dozen things in EVE at any given time anyway.
Just more a matter of UI consistency really.

I really do not mind animations... but they need to be usefull and tell you something or else they are just annoying.
That means the text animation when opening the character sheet is indeed useless... becouse displaying the text all at once gives you just as much information, half of which becomes irrelivant after 1 year of eve, and the other half takes too long to show up these days...
And the great thing about the map animation is that you can turn it of. It can be handy though.. it gives you a sort of sense of how the universe looks and feels in 2d... I prefer the 2d map though becouse it's easyer to point out certain areas on that map to other people.

I've been thinking this recently myself. I look at it to check my skillpoints compared to my clone, and they are near the bottom, and it is annoying.
OTOH, I have kept the zoomy map because it does look cool. -

Imagine if it took that long to fire guns in fleet battles.
Oh wait...
Seriously, if this is the best the so-called "GUI programmers" could do, the EVE UI will be fubar forever.
