Read this article today and I couldn't stop laughing. It is downright sad.

Probably the guy that was in charge of fixing it didn't want to bother coming up with an actual solution, so he just stole a crack.

Suppose you draw a painting of Mona Lisa with..a beard. A thief steals it and paints out the beard. Then the painting is returned to you, and you say "wow, this looks much better without the beard" and try to sell it/whatever.
It would be ridiculous if the thief now held copyright to Mona Lisa's chin on that painting. And to the kangaroo....
