Got my main's vote in almost as soon as voting went live, I think getting out there and just voting for someone makes the statement to CCP that the CSM does have the voice of the community, and they do in fact represent the player base at large. Unfortunately, I can't vote with my alt "buddy" account until 60 days after it activated. I get that CCP is worried about scams and large amounts of 'dud' accuonts voting for certain candidates as a way to garner votes. Unfortunately, this is procluding me from voting on a paid account. I thought about petitioning CCP but I just finished reading a thread where CCP stated they had over 4,800 live petitions going at the moment, and by the time they actually can look at my petition voting will be long over. If a CCP dev reads this, PLEASE contact me so I can add my voice to the CSM elections. |

FYI (from sticky in Jita's corner regarding the elections):
CCP Diagoras wrote:Also of note, for this election we have made a slight change to voting mechanics. If your account is a buddy account, your account will have to reach an age of 60 days and be active and paying in order to vote. This change was implemented to prevent any potential electoral fraud with PLEX for buddy accounts.

What I find ridiculous is I remember CSM having some sort of rule that you couldn't go in as a CSM candidate if you weren't on a paid account.
Why make it so PLEX can be legally bought with ISK in the first place when we know pretty much all the major candidates are going to have access to multiple accounts because of this anyway? Granted this was posted on the EVE Online forums so I should take it with a grain of salt but I also noticed that there are stupid rules involving posting your real name and passport photocopy to CCP.
When exactly did CCP become a stock broker and when was it that people took a game so seriously that in order for anyone to become a candidate in an election for a relatively corrupt organisation they had to have their privacy invaded? I can understand the need for a broker to have your passport for security purposes so they know 100% it's you but this is a games company and brokers don't go posting their clients names up for everyone to see nor does anyones company!

I find it strange that the real persons name is listed first because they are known by their ingame name, not their real name. I look for their ingame name in the voter list and it's like I have to hunt to find it, oh forget it, I ]ll just use find.
If the CSM was a purely ingame thing I would agree with you however the CSM is mainly an out of game thing in which you talk to developers and the other CSM. Hence I am voting for a real life person and not an ingame persona. It would be even more ridiculous to have a vote for real people and not list their real names. It is quite common for publicly elected officials to have their name released (and their finances too in most cases) and since this is 100% voluntary I fail to see how anyone's privacy is being "invaded".
I think you need to chill out. We do this so we don't get 5,000 troll candidates (me + 4,999 goon troll candidates) and the CSM doesn't really do anything anyways so who cares. |
