this person used rl info with the help of the ccp to gain account access, info that i know my ceo didnt give to him voulentarly and wouldnt have happened if the ccp would have waited 48 hours with a responce to the account holders email for a responce

Not saying I condone such activities... but Russian and Korean gamers haved killed people over this type of situation.
in saying that... it makes good copy and would promote EvE considerably in the news.

Very simple really, Dont give your PW to anyone. Dont Give your Login to anyone. Hell, I'd not give my name to my own mother if she hadn't picked it herself (And even then I'm considering changing it ;p)

let me Fix that for you:
In my (incorrect) opinion, CCP should reimburse me, even though its all my CEO's fault.
The Police (quite rightly) wont do anything because no crimes were committed.
CCP is responsible for running the game, not making sure people aren't born with an extra chromosome like your CEO

CCP can not do anything in this case... as the theif who requested the password gave them enough info to get it.
how the **** is CCP supposed to know if the person requestion the PW is the right one or not.... oh that right.. by providing PERSONAL information
it was a Personal information theft... and if YOUR police doesnt do anything... well sucks to live in a shitty country. where i live it doesnt matter for what reason the info was stole.... it was stolen and you can get jail time for that

Actually if it is a case of real identity theft where he has the persons account numbers and such it is still a crime. They would investigate, however since it is for a game proving any damages would be problematic. So you won't recover the lost property since it was pixels but the CEO could prevent further abuse of his personal information.

I am interested to know more about this. If I read it correctly, the OP claims that a RL friend to the CEO used some personal info of the CEO to get access to his account and steal all his stuff. Then the CEO got banned for it. Is that correct?
If that is the case, then that is cause for concern. People commenting about “you are responsible for protecting your identity” or something like that is just being ******s. I know people IRL that plays Eve, and they know me. They know my name, address, phone number, email etc. I don’t go out on the streets and call myself Ra Vhim and say I live in Eve.
So, what’s up CCP? Is miscommunication the bad guy in this drama, or should I worry that you might screw up and I have to pay for it?
