In most cases, use the Hammerheads. The tracking speed isn't really an issue with NPCs. The higher damage bonus and thermal damage is best for most NPCs, although on occasion you might find use for the explosive Drones. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Using thermal drones is the generally accepted practice for missions. They have the higher damage mod, good speed, and work decently against most NPC's.
The other side of the coin is that training time for T2 light and medium drones is only a few hours per so its not uncommon to be able to use the range of T2 lights and mediums, then going thermal for the heavies.
As far as the Valks go, if you fight a lot of Angels missions then yes they can be worth it.

Hobgoblins, not Hammerheads, against frigates. Use the Hammerheads against everything else though, until you can use sentry drones.
Angels are especially susceptible to explosive damage, so use Warriors/Berserkers.
That's just my opinion.

Quick question, is there a way to expand a Drone Bay to add an additional drone (like a using a Expanded Cargohold)?

In answer to the previous question: No, unless you are using certain Tech 2 ships(such as the Ishkur and Ishtar.) Sorry.
Thanks, Securitas

Nope. As posted above, the only ships that have flexible dronebay are the Ishtar and Ishkur, which get a set drone space increase per level of HAC (or AF, respectively) trained.
As for the OP, unless they're being exceptionally pesky, I just stick with my Ogres - however, for switch and efficient demolishing, light drones work well and only take up a fraction of your dronebay. Warrior IIs and Hobgoblin IIs are arguably the best options in this category, the former due to their speed and tracking, and the latter due to their firepower.

As other posters have said, you cannot do this.
Also, I would expect that this is not strictly what you are looking for either. A larger drone bay will allow you to carry more drones ready to deploy, but the amount you can actually have launched and active at one time is limited by the ship's bandwidth (as well as your Drones skill, of course). For most ships this is the same as their drone bay size so you've probably not come across the separate mechanics. But a ship like the Arbitrator has a 150m^3 drone bay, but only 50 bandwidth. This means it can carry six light drones, but can only launch two of them at once (or more usually, can carry 15 medium drones but launches 5).
So even if there was a way to expand the size of your drone bay, this would only let you carry extra 'spare' drones and you wouldn't be able to launch your entire drone bay at once. (Historically there wasn't a concept of bandwidth and so a way to increase drone bay would have been overpowering - but now it actually would be quite reasonable to have e.g. a rig that increases your drone bay size so you can carry more spares or more types of drone).

AH, that makes sense. Thanks!

My T2 hammerheads rarely meet a npc that they can't shoot down.
The advantage of small scouts is that they auto-target frig-size ships first, then work their way up in size. If there are many frigs, I let the hobgoblins out until there are no more frig-size rats, then I switch to something bigger. ----------- MOP recruiting Industrialists/miners/traders/missioners/etc |

I'm a noob so all I will say is I use Hobgoblin IIs on destroyers and smaller, hammers on cruisers and structures. Generally i clear out frigs (hobs do it all on their own unless they refuse to aggro me)
