i have started training for a carrier just to have a long term goal(or i tend to jump between skills alot and never get one finished) and i chose the nid for a few reasons.
1) it look good. lets face it, if you out this much isk and time into a ship you want it to be nice to look at. 2) if caught solo you are dead anyway. it dont mather if you are in a caldari, amarr, gallente or mattar carrier. 3) as you wont be soloing, the remote rep bonus on the nid is more usefull than the damage on the thanatos or the resist bonus on the other two carriers.
ok to the fitting. this is what i was thinking
high 1 cloak 1 smartbomb 2 cap remote reps 1 cap remote shield booster med 5 cap recharger T2 low 2 cap reps 3 resits 1 DCU T2 rigs 3 CCC rigs
a mix of fighters as well as other drones.
Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". |

Edited by: P''uck on 19/07/2008 16:41:06 Mind you I don't and didn't ever fly capitals, but imho, when we arrive at such a big shipclass, with a big buffer AND a big active tank AND a very high chance of getting RR'ed, one should try to maximize the repped resists.
So in that case, EANM (maybe even an amarr navy one?) > DCUII.
Also you can look at CPR setups (used best named/faction to minimize drawback), which stack CPRs and Shield Boost Amps. Most likely you end up with a tad weaker tank but MUCH more spare cap. Which, I heard, is invaluable

1x shield rep 2x armor rep neut/smartbom/cloak to taste
4x cap rechargers, sensorbooster with scan res
2x eanm 1x dcu 1x local rep 2x cpr
3x ccc rig
You want cap, lots of it.

Intresting imo that there is a group that says you shouldnt undock a capital without DC (except maybe caldari ones), and there is a group that says only idiots use DCs on capitals.

If you look at the remote-rep performance of 2x EANM II + DC II vs 3EANM, the 3 EANM gives some 10-20dps tanked more per capital remote rep over the DC II. The DC II, however, adds over 200k EHP more than the third EANM.
You have to have a lot of remote reps to get more from the third EANM than form the additional rep cycles with the DC II.

On armourtanks, yes, has merits, on shieldtanks, no.

drone control units are fail
local tank is irrelevant
you need lots of cap
keep those in mind, then train for a carrier, any other way, dont bother
