I've been playing Eve on and off for around a year or maybe even 2 now. And I've always played it on my Hp Pavilion Dv2130ea notebook. It meets the minimum requirements for the premium graphics, and have played eve on the premium graphics since they were released. Recently I've just got back into Eve, had have been played solid for a round 4 weeks or so and everything ran fine with no problem. But as of a few days ago, whenever I start up Eve, before it even shows the Login window, my screen goes black then the "Blue screen of death" flashes up before my laptop then restarts. I've looked through the forums and internet for a reason why or a solution but haven't found one. I've uninstalled Eve and re-installed. Re-downloaded Eve and re-installed it. I've cleared the Cache and deleted all existing Eve folders each time I've done this. I've attempted a system restore, which didn't make any difference. I've uninstalled all existing games and all programs the could be causing this which didn't help either. I've also opened my laptop up and tried re-seating my video card and so on.
Has anyone else had or have this problem? And does anyone have any ideas or solutions which I haven't tried that could help?
Thanks!

Follow the instructions here for information on how to stop your laptop from rebooting automatically when a blue screen occurs.
The next time it occurs, write down all of the information on the blue screen. You especially want the code number and text after the "STOP", as well as write down anything that looks like it might be a file name. You can read up on the code number and text in a number of places (the Microsoft Knowledge Base for a start), or if you don't feel comfortable with doing that yourself you can post here with more information or ask any friends you have who are technically inclined.
Generally, blue screens are a symptom of a problem between a device driver and the underlying hardware, so you may want to try updating your graphics and sound drivers in any case. Check here for a thread discussing sound problems and EVE as well.

Ok, I've found the code "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" And I went on the microsoft website to find out what the error meant. I needed to update my drivers and sort out some settings, but when I went to do this, my drivers were already up to date, and my computer settings that needed fiddling with were already setup as they should be. ... So any other ideas?

Did it give an indication as to which driver was causing the problem? |

If it's not a driver problem then it's a hardware problem. Graphics or sound are the usual suspects but it could be the memory or the network card as well.

The microsoft error guide said it was a Chipset driver. I have Driver Detective installed on my Laptop and I've scanned over and over and each time it says all my drivers and Chipset drivers are up to date.
... Could just be that my laptop hates me with a passion and loves to do these kind of things to amuse itself ...?

Does it happen with Classic graphics? With sound disabled (you may have to edit prefs.ini to disable sound if you can't get in the game at all)?

Ok, Disabling the sound doesn't work either. ... Think I'm starting to run out of options. I spoke to a friend today and together we tried to restore my monstrosity that is my Laptop to factory settings with discs and system restore and anything we could think of. That didn't work. So any last desperate ideas?

You cannot fix faulty hardware by doing a factory restore.
Hardware can and does fail at random times, till we get away from the electron circuits this will be the cause. Electricity can do weird things, a half a volt in the wrong direction and wires can be short circuited and thus hardware failure.

I've seem this with corrupt registry [it is , well can be , a fail in the GFX drivers] now how to fix it .. it depends.
1) off try logging into eve via another user on your machine [may or may not work] 2) clear the cache 3) down grade the GFX drivers to an earlier version 4) switch off audio [maybe even disable it via hardware

Thanks for those tips. Tried them ... several times over.. aaand still nothing. So must be hardware as WhitePhantom said. So I guess i'll be EVE-less til my Desktop is fixed. ... better than being computer-less I suppose. Thanks again for all your tips.
