Also the NC has spies in other alliances. No surprise that they were to well prepared for MAX. Haha.
All the big 0.0 alliances are doing the metagaming sh*t. But only hypocrites whine about it when they get hit by the same stuff they are doing to others.
*shrugs*
Not to agree with the troll but there was an ISD report on the MAX movements. Any empire noob could tell where it was headed.

Maybe it's just me but I think TS spying and spying in general is another reason EVE is an awesome MMO. There's so much drama and intrigue. ___________________

Imo, there are things that are okay, spying is one of those things, as long as it is limited to the stuff on alliance mails, maybe forums. Relaying enemy comms is one of those things i absolutely detest. Knowing when your enemy stages is one thing, and will help get some pewpew, as you can counter. Knowing exactly what your enemy does in real time just avoids good pewpew and eliminates every bit of scouting you would normally need to do..

The word lame is far more lame than any group/activity/interest it is attached to.

Edited by: northwesten on 20/07/2008 11:32:01 Too be honest TS spying is not lame! people say that the ones more likely because they have a crap system on who can be on TS! Do your checks!
Also In RL if your enemy forces can hack into your network and find out what they are saying! what's the Difference to TS?
Only thing I think is lame is when people hack like mad! Now that is lame! But if they can get on your TS then your security is crap! Period!
anyhow get a spy in there TS and your be sorted! Otherwise quit whineing because someone out smarted you!

I don't mind TS/chat/forum spying in the least. It makes the game bigger and more complex. Spying and counter-spying expands the world that is EVE.
In every human war (RL analogy, I know...), spying has been an important ingredient. As EVE is supposedly simulating huge interstellar wars, it only stands to reason spying would be an acceptable part. In fact, it was advertised specifically on the original EVE game CD's!
The usually cries of 'metagaming', 'out-of-game' etc. aren't really valid either. If you choose to use out-of-game means to communicate, you're the one who starts the meta-gaming, and spies are perfectly justified to follow. Your job is to prevent spies getting into your chat. If you use an OOG tool in your gaming, it is not OOG anymore! If your enemy can gain access to it by social means (ie. no hacking), that is fair play.
In fact I rather like the description of the OP's incident. Making public that you've penetrated your opponents communication channels is a brilliant psy-ops
