I'm curious what exactly is in it for people who do missions for non research corperations. Like research corps still give out all of the same bonuses and cash and implants any non research corp gives, but it also gives out a decent (over time) chance at a multi million and potentially billion isk bpo. Where as non research corps well... get nothing?
I'm curious how many people out there who are full/part time agent runners that work for a non R&D corp, and why.

Don't know if the Corp I run Security Missions for has a R&D Section, don't rightly care either. I run missions with this Corp for a few reasons:
1.)Faction Standing and the benefits it brings (might not be much, but its a peronal Goal of mine.
2.)The money is really good, the bonus' I get bring in good money, and the Kill missions are generally either in System or only one or two away.
3.) Location. I got three agents I can use in system, two at the same station and one more in system that is almost available. Not to mention, the system has Rats a plenty, a good economy (which I help support with the Rat loot) and good minerals if I ever (unlikely) decide to go the Mining route.
If there is something better out there, my ignorance makes me blissfully unware of what I am missing. ______________ "I Type with my Tongue" |

1. Lots and lots of shuttles. 2. ME 0 cruiser BPC's. 3. Various tech 2 components (laff)
So i guess the answer is no. There is no reason to do non research agent missions.

Because when I started this character, I decided to go for trade/management/social skills, all charisma based.
I have some research skills but I am not a researcher. Actually trade and missions are heavily nerfed but I still raise my standings in the hope it will be useful one day. This is the way I want my character to be. I think one day CCP will realize about us who are not PvPers and give us more cookies^^.
It is not a carebear/griefer problem, I want to play the economic simulation, not the war simulation. I have rushed with indies full of isogen already to find someone beat me to it.
I do the missions in the same spirit, I play a trader and I get some interesting stuff of Aliastra and others corps even after all the nerfing^^.
Nonetheless, I have 5.0 standing with Duvolle .

FYI Shampoo, your no. 2 is no longer valid. The Cruiser BPc's come with a decent ME value now. ---------- [ 2004.05.06 05:12:04 ] (combat) Your 250mm Railgun I perfectly strikes Guristas Invader, wrecking for 155.7 damage. |

As long as you don't have Science lvl 5 and engineering/mechanic/electronics lvl5, R&D agents aren't of much use to you.
The 'normal' lvl3 agents pay quite good, and the implant prices of today can make it worth your while as well.

At least in the past, agents of non-R&D corps tended to have significantly better rewards than normal agents in R&D corps.
Don't know if that still holds true. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Edited by: Queen B on 26/05/2004 08:27:33 I think corp / faction standing and the posibility for other types of implants and rewords not given from the RnD corp is reason engouht.
There is NO reason not to get yourself a RnD agent, as you said the ultimate mission reward is a tech2 bpo - however running missions for different NPC corps (RnD or not) give the benefit of getting different implants.
One more thing, there is quite a bit of investment in skill training time for running RnD missions, but I for one think it's all worth it.
Kind regards //QB

I do missions for the Sisters of Eve for no other reason than the PoTW.

I do missions for the highest Federal Navy Internal Security Agent and for Duvolle Labs Security Agent. Most time they give ship components, by far the most valuable bonus (per mission this stuff is worth between 400k to 700k), but also advanced science skills and BPO. _______________________________________________________________ [ 2004.04.14 12:26:17 ] (combat) <color=0xffbbbb00>Your 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Guardian Initiate, wrecking for 172.8 damage. |
